(it isn't piling on to point out that going dark for any amount of time after the VCU loss was not good. that is just self evident)
This might be a semantic quibble but if something is self-evident and you point it out anyway, isn’t that kinda the definition of piling on? Don’t get me wrong, it didn’t really bother me that it was “pointed out” (several times), but let’s call a spade a spade (if we can still use that phrase?)

I think discussing something that is reported to have happened within the immediate time span that the event is first reported is far from piling on, even if some of those things are supposedly "self-evident".

The only other option is to essentially put a moratorium on discussing HD now that he's been fired like we're somehow desecrating the memory of the dead by mentioning him, which is fairly silly.

On Charlotte radio, your guy Matt Doherty was asked if he felt Hubert was treated unfairly. Doherty responded that Hubert definitely wasn’t treated unfairly, if you want to see unfairly you need to go back to 2003, when he was fired by UNC.

If not piling on it was emphasizing a benign detail in an effort to question Hubert yet again.

It's unnecessary and unimportant.

For real? Seriously? Surely this is a joke. What did the interviewer say?

You know he's a human and it's ok to admit that not everything he does is perfect, right?

It was an interesting detail on an interesting topic, it's fair game for discussion.
Give the man a little grace.

How he handles trauma is his business. He did nothing wrong here.

Let me say that I need an outside POV here because it's something I'm absolutely obsessive about and don't completely trust my own opinion. In my world, and it's not entirely solo, It would be commonplace to absolutely not say anything to others about something someone said to them, especially if asked to keep it private. If the players and staff felt anything close to the same, the only lack of communication would be with people outside the team. I expect by now that they have a clue who talks to who among the peripheral staff and such.

The issue may totally be on my end, but I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. Can you add a little more to clarify it for me?

Boiled down, could the coaches and players at the core of the team have basically communicated sub rosa and kept their mouths shut to any and everybody else. As I said, in my circle, yes without question but it's very small and private.

I mean, sure, I guess it's possible.

But I find it more likely that Norlander had a pretty good source (or sources) for the assertion that the coaches nor players heard from HD for nearly 24 hours after departing Greenville. I mean, I doubt it's an accusation that Norlander would make up and run with unless someone who would have a good idea of its veracity would bring up to him in the first place.

Having Doherty insert himself as the victim certainly could have been a joke, but that was a serious post, Doherty definitely said it. The interviewer didn’t ask any type of follow up on that answer.

Doherty was also asked if there’s a name he prefers as the next coach. His answer was Billy Donavan, though he did mention friction with Roy could be an issue.

ben also confirmed hearing various versions of this.

I don't understand the Oats hate, I think it's partially because he's whipped our ass repeatedly the last 4 years (recruiting and on the court). He'd be a home run hire IMO.
