But imagine instead of sinking all the money we did into Evans and Bogavac, that we had 2 good consistent guards. Do we win last night? Doubtful. But we are a hell of a lot better team. As it seems to be every year, the team is really imbalanced and that limits our ability to play with any semblance of consistency.
I don't know how much money we sunk into those two. I have heard that we overpaid for Evans, but I have my doubts we paid too much for Bogo. I could be wrong about the latter.
I mean, obviously Evans hasn't worked out. We got him because he shot like 44% from 3 last year. Well, looking more and more like that was a fluke. Hard to know, really, when there are only a couple of seasons. Bogo shot 39.9% from 3 his last season in the pros in europe. Before that, he was 32% and 37%. He's at 34% now for us. Again, hard to know if the 39% was a fluke or what.
When you pay $$ to get two guys for their shooting, and neither can shoot, there are going to be problems -- especially when the reason you needed the shooting is no shooting from the SG. I don't know how you can blame the shooting woes on the coach. Well, I know how but it seems unfair. There's nothing wrong with those guys' form that I've seen; there was nothing to scout -- they've just not been making shots.
That's not to say we had a great guard position even with those guys shooting better.
The questionable decision in my mind was Jarin. I don't know how much we paid but I'm guessing more than we should have. That said, if our guards could shoot, maybe Jared could do other things that play more to his strength. In the end, though, I just don't think he has the motor or the aggressiveness and that could have been scouted.
