I’d forgotten about The Main Board in all of this and just took a look. That place is disgraceful. It’s so bad that if I were Ben Sherman, I would never associate with a company that allowed it.

Just a quick glance at the front page has threads calling black people animals and liberals a gay slur.

I have never gone to the 247 main page or the On3 main page. Maybe once you get some big wigs in the On3 network they will hire some moderators to clean up the main page. @SnoopRob want the job?

Interested to see if THI does end up taking the place of IC on 247. I really think if that happens and with the other ZZL board and Heel Talk that traffic on the IC boards at On3 is going to be way down. To be honest, I would rather just be able to go to one board with a lot of traffic. I thought folks from Heel Talk might venture over here because it seems there is more traffic here. Wonder if there will be more posters coming here when IC leaves 247 or if most of the regular IC posters will just stop.

Yes. If you signed up for the $1 deal and have access to On3 right now, go to the UNC page (or On3.com) and click the message boards link in the top left. The very first message board listed is called the main board.

The Rivals Main Board was the same way when I was on there for a bit. Just a cesspool of racism, misogyny, and xenophobia. Posters who weren't full MAGA were persona non grata. They eventually made it a private board because it started drawing the wrong kind of attention I think. This was several years ago. Not sure if they ever cleaned it up.

The boards will be fine. People always bitch about technical changes until they get used to them. Maybe a small handful of people will switch to Tarheel Illustrated simply because they are more comfortable with the 247 tech (which is pretty lame anyway). I'd suspect 99% will stick with IC.

Thanks. I haven't created an On3 account yet but I probably will eventually for IC content.

Ya know, considering On3 has acquired Rivals, it seems like the On3 Main Board is just the new Rivals Main Board. That would make a lot of sense within the context of my post above and also answer the question as to whether or not they ever cleaned things up. Sad state of affairs.

definitely feeling good about my decision not to follow IC over there. i'll miss the excellent reporting and scoops from rell, ben, greg, buck, michelle, staples, etc. but on3 and their goons shaw and terry give me the heebee jeebies.

some of this is that i've probably just outgrown college sports message boards, too. life is too short. only ridiculous "politics and other topics" message boards for me, now

I’m with you. I care so much less about all the off-season stuff these days. And for that matter, my love of college sports is less than it used to be. Combination of many things contributing to that.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t every previous network switch (other than the move from Rivals to TheInsiders before Ben & UNCbasketball joined with IC) IC's entire network moving rather than IC switching networks. And the switch from Rivals to TheInsiders is the reason that so many longtime users all have the same joined date in 2001, yes?

Also, I'm pretty sure that Jim Heckman founded Rivals, not Terry Shannon. Shannon bought Rivals when it essentially went bankrupt and rebuilt it. Heckman then founded TheInsiders, which eventually became Scout.

I'm not saying this will go badly and that Ben, Buck, & IC won't do everything possible to make it go as well as possible. But I think it's important to note this is a different kind of network switch than IC has experienced in almost 25 years and so things likely won't go the same way as they have before...and the network switch 25 years ago that is more like this one left a lasting mark on IC that you can still detect via the user joined dates of some posters.

I will go out and make the argument that not only will this go badly, but that the months before BB coaches his first game is absolutely the worst time to make this switch.

Went ahead and joined on3. I renewed IC in April. Some seem to think IC will do something about that but I don’t have much faith in that happening.
