IC going to On3

The Poop Sheet…. ?
A hard copy newsletter about UNC sports of which Dennis Wuycik was the publisher. Was a great pre-internet way to keep-up with UNC sports. Wuycik and Dean Smith had a falling out over it when "The Poop Sheet" started accepting ads from gambling houses.
ETA: I subscribed back when I was in the Army in Germany in the 1970's. The Euopean edition of "Stars & Stripes" just did not report on UNC sports at the level I was interested in.

FIL got it-man I loved it when I would go over and read it

I realize I’m probably in the minority for this board but I’ll go to bat for IC as a media outlet. Their reporting over the years has been top notch and overall I don’t think it’s a stretch at all to say that they’ve built one of the best college sports sites in the country when you combine how well sourced they are and the level of engagement they’ve gotten out of the UNC fan base.

As for the content on the forums themselves these days, I can understand why you guys have lost interest. I first had an IC account in the early 2010s right after I graduated when I was a lot more invested in recruiting and following the teams closely, gradually lost interest, then came back a few years ago. The discussion definitely feels more negative now than it did during my first stint, whether that’s because the basketball team has struggled more, people are just generally more combative online these days, etc.

I agree with you about IC as a media outlet. I have some minor points of contention with how they do things, but, on the whole, they're a great media organization covering a college athletic department.

What I've come to realize about the fora is that most folks think of the "best era" as the first couple of years they participated. I would argue that the best time on IC was summer of 2003 (right after Roy announced his return) through somewhere around 2005 when the first major breakaway board occurred (BoB). It's likely just coincidental that I had lurked at IC for awhile before that but finally signed up August 2003. As I've seen others on IC talk about the best era of the board, it really does seem that most folks see it as the period where they first participated.

absolutely agree with this even though i'm dropping my subscription. they produce quality content and they genuinely do get some inside information and perspectives that can be hard to find elsewhere. the forums are a shitshow and nearly unreadable at times due to the trolls and generally miserable people who inflict their piss poor perspectives on every thread.

i'm just at stage of my life where i don't care as much about having that stuff or having it immediately. i still love UNC sports but it is truly something that i want to be fun and relaxing and IC is just so often not that. following recruiting is so often not that. i'm cool with getting the news more slowly or not at all. i'll still be at a ball game (FB, BB, baseball and wsoc) or three every year.

Early 2000’s with the Doh Wars, and then the mid 2000’s with Manhattanheel running rough shod over the dookies and IC getting a shout out in a National journal… those were the heydays. 2010 onward was fun too, but the 2000’s decade was off the chain.

I read the Poop Sheet back in the day. To get recruiting analysis you relied on Brick ...

doubt it's going to be controversial here to say that IC has folks that do really good journalistic work, from the recruiting side with Rell and Don to the "inside the program" stuff with Ben and Greg - to say nothing of the talent they've had pass through for baseball work.

unfortunately, that's only half their job - as hosts of the biggest collection of UNC fans on the internet, IMO the environment that is cultivated is their responsibility, and they've failed woefully to make that environment something better than the lowest common denominator of sports fandom on either their paid or free boards.

IC never banned her. Duke posters got her a system wide ban. We willingly looked the other way when she came back under another name.
my bad ...

I did not know she received a universal ban

and I did not know she came back under a different name.

What was her new name ? After she was banned I don't recall any posts that captured the exquisite sassy Manhattan persona, but wouldn't it be wonderful if she found this board ?
