I was banned from some mod on the basketball board earlier this year with an account I had since 2002 and have no idea to this day why I was banned. Cry me a river.

I supported gay marriage before Obama supported gay marriage.... That's a byproduct of my libertarian leanings. That doesn't change the reality of what is normal and abnormal.

When stating facts alone gets you labeled a bigot, the issue isn't with the person stating the facts.

I don't have access to the specific quote that got you banned, but the ban records state you were banned for a transphobic comment...which tracks with what you've said thus far. Violations of board rules like bigotry don't require warnings and can be enforced in a zero-tolerance manner. Also, now that you've revealed your second username, I'll add that we knew you were a returned previously banned poster when the BRP ban was put in place. Returned banned posters don't necessarily get the same process as posters who don't have previous bans.

That ban occurred in a period when I wasn't on the board much due to some professional/life transitions, but I see that we didn't send you a PM or put it on the ban thread. We erred in that. Of course, you might have gotten some real information about your ban had you not immediately PM'ed me to act a fool and then later PM'd me to threaten me. I'm not sure why you thought that kind of action would work, but to each his own.

In short, you got banned under two different usernames a few years apart by different sets of mods and you're claiming the mods are the problem. I think we can see the common denominator here.

Biological traits, which same sex attraction is, aren't abnormal. Is it abnormal to have blue eyes? Only about 10% of the world's population does. You also gloss over the negative connotation that abnormal implies. So by referring to it as abnormal you are describing it as undesirable.

Bans 5 years apart with no warnings in between? Yeah must be a real problem poster there with no warnings in 5 years. And you all thought I was a previously banned poster but you thought it was someone else.

I told you what I said and that is what I got a permaban for. For you to morph that into some sincere transphobia worthy of a permaban with no communication is ridiculous. An obvious joke. I'm sorry you were having life issues at that point but it appears it may have led to some heavy handedness with the banhammer, which is really what I suspected the entire time anyway. Displaced aggression from an internet moderator. Go figure.

ETA: I was also openly critical of some of the other moderating decisions that really reeked of "I feel insecure today so I'm going to exercise some message board power". You were already looking for a reason to ban me. You used your position as a means of overcompensation.

Eyes are meant to allow a mammal to see. A specific color may be uncommon, but not inherently abnormal. Having eyes that don't allow you to see, since their entire purpose is vision, is abnormal. Sexual attraction is designed to keep species in existence. That is the purpose. Therefore, having an attraction that doesn't facilitate the continuation of a species is abnormal.

Given the way the software works, I couldn't see IP matches and other items that let us identify when folks came back with an alias. We had to run it up the flagpole to the admin side and they'd get back to us if they found any matches on a poster. I'm sure at the time we were told what your previous alias was, but I don't remember it years later.

I wasn't on the board much when you got banned and almost certainly didn't have much/anything to do with your ban. I certainly wasn't the driver of your ban, although I remember you as a poster. But you can hold a personal grudge, if you'd like, I won't lose any sleep over it and I can certainly tell you're handling it in a mentally-healthy way.

Can you not at least see how calling someone who is gay abnormal is offensive? The definition of abnormal is deviating from what is usual in an undesirable way. So for LGBTQ people on these boards when they see someone call them abnormal they take it as they are undesirable.
