If I didn't have things tying me to NC and I could find a relevant job there or working remotely, I'd love to move to Wyoming among a bunch of other liberals to create a little liberal colony of awesomeness.

Note: I reserve the right to completely change my mind any time after the first snowfall after I move there.

The filibuster is on its last legs. The GOP will kill it the first time it gets in their way. I think we had almost the votes in 2021 to kill it. We lacked only for Manchin and Sinema, both of whom are gone.

If we somehow hold the Senate this time, the filibuster enemy will be Fetterman. I would say Tester and in the assumption that we have the Senate, he probably would have won. But he's been doing this a while and is no spring chicken. Will he even run again in 2030? Anyway, that's an eternity from now. And I just don't think Fetterman wants to be the sand in the gears quite as readily as the fraggle fashionista formerly known as a Senator from Arizona

It’s gonna be October/early November when the temp goes below zero and it’s blowing 25 mph.

States have to agree. No state can be rolled up against its will.

But a change to the constitution could fix that. Nobody takes my "create 70 states out of DC, amend the constitution at will, and then restore normality" idea seriously, and I get why -- it's, shall we say, politically unrealistic. But we could solve a lot of problems with that manuever. Otherwise intractable problems.

I'll be in my warm, warm house with a fire. I won't even have to go outside to get to my car in the garage before I go anywhere, so I'll be fine with the cold weather.

But I make no promises the first time there's snow and I can't just stay at home until it melts like I do here.

First, presidential rallies, in general , aren't what they used to be. We have comedians, rappers, professional wrestlers, etc, so having a comedian isn't surprising.

Second, he's a comedian. He does what comedians do. I suspect he was also confident that his audience would be receptive to his off-color jokes.

I don't blame Ricky Gervais for his performance at the hoity toity Golden Globes. I blame the Golden Globes for inviting a host who they knew was known for controversial comedy. Ricky was doing what Ricky does, just like this guy. Ultimately, he did nothing wrong to be held accountable for, IMO.

1. I've never seen a comedian do that. Maybe it is something that asshole comedians whose audiences are assholes does, but even there I'm doubtful.
2. That confidence doesn't help your case or his.

I don’t really care what happens to Hinchcliffe since I wasn’t a fan anyway. I’ve heard far worse (and far funnier) lines in NYC comedy clubs. In a setting like that, you shouldn't go unless you’re prepared to hear things that would clearly be offensive outside of that context. He knew the reach for this event would be far wider, and he calculated this move. So he’s prepared for whatever is coming and doesn’t care. He’s been doing this for many years.

It’s the trump campaign’s decision to spotlight him on this platform that caused my jaw to drop. Not trump, because he’s incredibly stupid. But his campaign should’ve known the risk.

I called it a wild miscalculation as soon as it happened, even though others dismissed it as not having potential to move the needle. Understanding PA demographics alone was more than enough to know this was going to move the needle. Combined with all the high profile Puerto Rican stars endorsing Harris in the past week, it was clear this would matter.

I’ve thought he was going to lose for months, so I don’t think it ultimately matters. But for anyone looking for a nail in the coffin, this was it.

Democrats have everything to lose if they abolish the filibuster​
