Is this why Dem’s Approval Rating Polls are so bad?

Do you believe that he's a billionaire or that he doesn't pay his fair share of taxes or that he doesn't spend personal time and resources to support everything that he advocates for?

Gotcha bullshit like this doesn't accomplish anything, only the stupid will take this at face value and not dig in to better understand.

No one is arguing that a person cannot be successful, rich, or own the houses.

But you knew that, your just being you.
I think may people are turned off by those who don't practice what they preach. The "do as I say, not as I do" people.

That's the point maybe he is giving and doing as he says. He's not a billionaire that I know of so He's not really discussing his tax bracket.

Among that group of six, Bashear or Whitmer strike me as having the most potential to reach the working class. Whitmer has won the demographic in Michigan, but I don’t know how she would perform with a less union-friendly working class audience. And I suspect Democrats will be very wary of nominating another woman at this point. So Bashear by default for me. I’ve never understood the appeal of Shapiro. I like Pritzker but he’s a fat billionaire, and Newsom’s California roots and smarmy slickness won’t play well in the south or Midwest.
Beshear at the top of the ticket and Whitmer to shore up MI, WI, PA. Seems like Dems best bet.

Can not have it flipped. If Whitmer is on the ticket it has to be second fiddle. Even if she’s the best man for the job, if the the Dems run another woman at the top of the ticket they’re toast - again - and more ignorant and short-sighted than I’ve thought all along.
Andy for prez.

This has been discussed many times on this board - that the current unpopularity of Democrats has less to do with general public opposition to Democratic policies (most of which poll very well) but rather with the frustration and anger of many Democrats towards the party leadership and how they're dealing with Trump. I'm not talking about the merits of their frustration and whether it is justified, only that it clearly exists as most polls show. And the good news for Democrats is that likely won't keep these people from turning out in large numbers next year to cast an anti-Trump, anti-GOP vote. Whatever frustrations they may have with their own party, it is dwarfed by their loathing and anger at Dear Leader and his party.

I also suspect it’s pretty normal for members of the party that got its ass handed to it in the last presidential election to be unhappy with the party for a while. Especially when the ass-handing was done by the most incompetent person ever to run for elected office in this country.

It may not keep people for voting from Dems, but on the other side of the coin it most likely will ensure they vote the dems out the next cycle though. Enthusiasm will put them out to the polls to vote agaisnt the Trump stuff, but that enthusiasm won't carry over and we will be back in the same mess again.

Agreed, but right now I'm thinking short-term for 2026 as the survival of our democracy and constitutional government is likely at stake. No doubt Democrats have loads of problems that need fixing, but with Dear Leader in charge it's trying to fix one problem at a time.

I think the Democratic party needs to go ahead and die already (figuratively of course) and start over as something else. Don't worry about the fringe lefties that you're going to piss off by coming back to the center.

And when this happens, absolutely no one currently in Democratic party leadership needs to be included or consulted. Stop shooting yourselves in the dick and get out of your own way.

Now that said, even with all their problems, and on their worst day, they are still leaps and bounds better than anything to do with MAGA or Trump or whatever passes as the Republican party these days. Stop being the "we are not Trump" party and give people something else to believe in.

Couldn’t read it all but for the love of Gods whoever what about admitting some folks are stupid and also kinda “culty” which is apparently a new word!?! Get with it Webster.
Why are we still talking about this stuff?
Of course the cult is comprised but have no clue and will likely be in denial about it until they die.
Had family members in PTL with Jim & Tammy who have no recollection of kinda like the flash on men in black.

I’ll admit that a lot of folks are stupid. Most of America is comprised of stupid people. I can prove it. I’ll also admit these stupid people are “culty” (Note: not kind of culty, but dipshit crazy, full on culty).
Talk about it we must, because sweeping it under the rug is not an option.

simply cannot fathom the brain it takes to look at the past year of Dem politics and say the party has to be replaced with something more centrist. the centrists in the party are who have it in this mess in the first place. centrism is a nothing politics and voters are recognizing it.

I would much prefer something fairly left, especially to fix what MAGA is destroying, but seeing as how US politics usually lags about 8-10 years behind European politics, can you identify a leftist movement that has succeeded over a substantial period of time in non-Scandinavian Europe? Seems to me a lurch to the left is just a recipe for a pendulum that swings wildly back and forth from one election to the next.

Exactly. The status quo was not working. Pretty much all of the country felt that. MAGA is a tacit acknowledgment of that - but the changes they offer are shitty and will hurt many many more than they help.

Democrats can't expect to win by offering more of the same - they are extolling institutions that largely failed the people. They need some populism, and to stop fucking cowering about what right wing media will make of it - they'll call everything extremist socialism, even if it's a tepid compromise, so you might as well do the right goddamn thing anyways. Minnesota was the model - school lunches, legal weed, easy voting- but for some reason the centrists put Walz on the ticket and refused to let him cook.
