A senior Hamas official told AFP on Tuesday the group was no longer interested in truce talks with Israel after Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday announced a new “intensified” offensive in Gaza that will involve Israeli troops holding on to seized territory and significant displacement of the population.“There is no sense in engaging in talks or considering new ceasefire proposals as long as the hunger war and extermination war continue in the Gaza Strip,” Basem Naim told the news agency, urging the international community “to pressure the Netanyahu government to end the crimes of hunger, thirst, and killings” in Gaza.
His comments come a day after Israel’s military said expanded operations in Gaza would include displacing “most” of its residents, and amid Israeli strikes on Yemen and Lebanon.
After a fragile ceasefire in Gaza collapsed in mid-March, Israel renewed its bombardment of the territory, and more than 70% of Gaza is under Israeli control or covered by orders issued by Israel telling Palestinian civilians to evacuate specific neighbourhoods.
Hamas is still believed to be holding dozens of Israeli hostages who were seized and abducted from southern Israel during the Hamas surprise attack on 7 October 2023. Many of the hostages are thought to be dead.

That's not me being fecetious.
My first clue that Hamas didn't want truce talks was when they murdered 1,000 Israeli citizens on October 7th and, in some cases, used the cell phones of the deceased to call home and brag about it.

My first clue was the harassment, treatment, and killing of Palestinians for the last 75 years and in many cases they post videos laughing and bragging about it. Or maybe more recently that Netanyahu has been wanting to take Gaza back and wants the West Bank as well.

In the short term, this seems like something that has to be done to ensure the long term viability of Gaza as a territory not run by a terrorist regime.

The article makes it pretty clear that this is a short term thing. They want to force out Hamas and ensure aid is being distributed appropriately, which Hamas was not doing.

Israel doesn't want to need to have truce talks. Israel would love to completely leave Gaza to their devices, knowing that their leadership won't act like jackasses, but they can't because they're run by terrorists and act like terrorists. As a result, Israel, despite pulling out 20 years ago, now has to move back in to babysit.What in the world would make anyone believe Israel was ever interested in truce talks?

If you haven't noticed, there are no countries in line to run Gaza.... ever the multiple Muslim majority countries in the region.

No. I've already said I think the aid should be permitted.
Why wouldn't Hamas release the hostages so that Israel would resume the aid?

RaiGuy posted a Tweet of a video claiming that there was a gender reveal event, on the part of IDF, and that reveal was done via some kind of blue explosive powder. I look at that and say to myself, for a variety of reasons, "That's fake. I thought the same about many of RaiGuy's Twitter posts, but generally don't say anything.

Whether or not a 'slew' of war crimes has been committed by Israel will depend on the details of individual events. RaiGuy has referenced, more than once, that IDF snipers killed women and children. On its face, that can't be labeled a war crimes, without further details, because terrorists love to use women and children in war.
All war is awful and certainly, as a civilian, having your own government using you as a human shield, while disallowing you from hiding in the tunnels that would be perfect for protection, has to be frustrating....
...or maybe it isn't because being a martyr guarantees you and your family an eternity in heaven.
Ultimately, Israel is in a no-win situation. They're fighting an enemy for whom the world has no standards while being held to basically impossible standards themselves.
