This seems like it could be a reasonably non-escalatory response, IF a few missiles lobbed at this base is all that happens. Not that we should be happy Iran is doing this but it could be seen as a limited response for show back home …

Base in Iraq also seems to have been targeted and reports are UAE has closed their airspace, so potentially a target there as well.
