Breaking on MSNBC right now: timed to happen right after Netanyahu finished speaking at the UN, Israel bombed the supposed Hezbollah command center in Beirut.
Interesting they decided to hit it after it was cleared out last month

Interesting they decided to hit it after it was cleared out last month

Or they bombed what they claim is the new HQ?

Several big explosions rocked the Lebanese capital of Beirut on Friday, CNN teams on the ground witnessed.

CNN has geolocated a video shared on social media which showed multiple large plumes of smoke in an area of the city’s southern suburbs known as Dahiyeh, in the aftermath of the strikes. It comes after CNN teams heard a series of very loud booms.

Dahiyeh is a densely populated area with a strong Hezbollah presence, and where many of the group’s leadership is based.

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson Daniel Hagari said in a brief video statement that the Israeli military had struck Hezbollah’s headquarters.

“Moments ago, the Israel Defense Forces carried out a precise strike on the central headquarters of the Hezbollah terror organization that served as the epicenter of Hezbollah’s terror,” Hagari said.

“Hezbollah’s terror headquarters was intentionally built under residential buildings in the heart of Beirut, as part of Hezbollah’s strategy of using human shields,” he added.

Or they decided to hit a residential area and claim that Hezbollah is there. It could be what they said, but you can't blame me for not believing a word that comes from their mouths.

Oh, I don't believe them generally at face value either. Just passing on what was claimed.

Wash, rinse, repeat.
These folks have been fighting for 2,000 years and still haven't been able to make it work. The children and innocent bystanders are just collateral. Nobody has high ground nor righteousness when they both behave this way.
Hurt people hurt people but I think healed people can heal people and that's the world I want!
Rodney King said it best "Can't we all just get along?"

It’s like if Trump told the truth for once. I’m not saying they’re telling the truth about this incident, but since they invaded Gaza, the IDF has told the truth about as often as the Orange Turd does.

They've been fighting since 1947. There is no historical analog to the Jews and Palestinians fighting in Jesus's time.

Israel reporting that Nastallah has been killed. If so, Hezbollah’s entire leadership structure has been destroyed in a matter of about a week.

When and how do the civilians there and Gaza get any relief? Somebody should and I feel pretty NIMBY about it all.

I hesitate to type this because I don’t want to sound cold and callous about it, but…. I agree with your sentiments that the citizens in both those cases need both physical and mental relief. However, it should not be the job of the US to be the relief arm for an entire world, ESPECIALLY when the people are citizens of groups or countries that actively are against us and our way of life. Sadly, I don’t see any of the surrounding Muslim countries working to assist in any significant and meaningful way to support either of those groups, and it should be them first and foremost who help out.

I honestly hate that I feel that way, because I fully believe that those civilians want the same thing I do - to live a meaningful and peaceful life with those I love. We just can’t be all things to all people.

I don’t understand what this means. Palestinians are citizens of which country that is “actively…against us and our way of life?” I don’t disagree that the surrounding Muslim countries need to stand up, but this statement confuses me.

Oh, I agree with all that, hence my Not In My Back Yard comment. It's not that we haven't been a bit of an enabler but it's not really either a responsibility or an obligation for us to fix it. I wouldn't mind following along but not leading. If that doesn't work, I'm fine with getting out of the way.

Israel is doing what so many others won’t do and good for them. Quit painting around the edges. You have to end these terrorist groups.
If it were just terrorists, I wouldn't have much issue. Israel's loosely inclusive definition of terrorism and international laws has lost me. Stilling willing to step up to prevent them being overrun but, IRL, that possibility pretty much ended when Israel entered the Bomb Club in the mid 60s. I would really like to sever our alliance and become a neutral. I have no earthly idea what we have and will ever get out of this involvement with them.

The world is full of bad guys and worse guys. You have to choose who to put your weight behind. Israel is full of bad guys but as long as they are better than the worst - go with it. And i think they are.
This is 100% it. Perfection cannot be the standard. We have long partnered with people or countries that do things that we may disagree with because they are better than the alternative.

Cannot believe they got Nazrallah. I read that they used over 80 bunker busters in that one location to guarantee his end.

However you feel about what's happened after October 7th, you have to admit that the Israelis had a plan regarding Hezbollah and have executed it to perfection. The entire leadership of Hezbollah has been wiped out in basically 10 days. Un-freakin-real.

Just read that the Ayatollah in Iran has been taken to a safe location, for fear that the IDF is coming for him next.
