We just elected a literal piece of shit idiot as our POTUS. We clearly don’t care as a country. Why should I?
Maybe rather than pumping up Biden, when it was clear that he should step aside, you should have been calling for him to do the right thing. We would have had a better chance if he'd done so.

Why the heck would you not care that someone who has served his nation more honorably than any of us could ever hope to is being punished simply because he did his job and followed the chain of command?
Right. It wasn't his plan he was executing. He was just making the best of what ended up being a disaster.

The question of how the US so underestimated the Taliban, and why nobody was ultimately held accountable for that that failure of intelligence and planning, is a separate question.

That is entirely my point here. Whatever one's conclusion is of the ultimate question of the withdrawal, this particular General appears to have been dumped into the middle of a complete shitshow and did his absolute best to minimize the carnage.

Here's a timeline of events to help you decide. Looks like Trump did everything he could to back Biden into a corner. I think he could have handled it a little better but Trump negotiating a withdrawal, cutting troops from 13,000 to 2500 and releasing 5000 terrorists is damned sure a bad look.

No. The question is "Why is trump targeting him for persecution?"
