Genuinely, watch out for Paxton. His corruption is nearly as unrelenting as his racism and misogyny. He also has the “Teflon” descriptor. He’s a perfect kleptocratic authoritarian AG.
The only thing about Paxton is he’s used to playing games in TX with a very friendly set of referees. I think he might find the wider scope and venues of DoJ a challenge. But he certainly is a vindictive SOB.

I don’t think that matters. Paxton is a purposely cruel pugilist. In a government driven by scams, schemes, and retribution, he’s arguably the most qualified in the country. The only catch is Ken might actually be too crafty, which is a threat to the bumblefucks ttump surrounds himself with and the bumblefuck we know him to be.

Yes, this isn't necessarily a good development. Gaetz' problems ran much deeper than personal ethics, and if Trump nominates a less-rapey version of Gaetz, we're going to be stuck in the same nightmare.

The GOP Senators are now acting as if they've cut one scalp, saved a tiny bit of dignity, and will now go back to slurping Trump. And that's just dangerous. Hegseth seems to be sailing, which is what is going to happen if we focus on the rape allegations and not on his manifest unfitness. Remember, they confirmed Kav to a lifetime appointment despite "unverified allegations" and they will do that here if we commit to this path.

Trump is a smart motherfucker.

He knew Gaetz nomination would stir the shit storm that would end in his eventual withdrawal. So Gaetz took a deal to resign from congress, which would get him out of the jam with the ethics committee while taking the spotlight off all of Trumps other terrible nominees.

Gaetz was the sacrificial lamb.
I think it is more he couldn't get the Senators to agree to recessing at Trump's will for appointments.

And an ongoing federal case against him that he'd love to command be tossed out.

Likely all true. Except not 100% that Hegseth is sailing and Hegseth has other infidelity baggage that Kav did not (as far as we know).

They can't stop it anyway. In the House they'll just be outvoted and in the Senate if they try to filibuster there is no doubt in my mind that Senate Republicans will just abolish the filibuster. Republicans have gloated and made very clear since the election that the Democrats have no power in any branch of the government, so they'll just ram through pretty much whatever the hell they want.
Let them. When it all comes crashing down, there'll be only one side to blame. MAGA will have no choice but to own it. All of it.

Trump is already winning. He got gaetz to resign from congress as a disruptive figure who will be replaced with a less controversial individual.

And somewhere Kevin McCarthy is smiling.
