Mets are slip slidin’ away. Finally got a win to snap a disastrous 8-game skid.
It's somewhat amazing to me the way franchises can repeat the same behavior over and over even after everything changes.

I mean, I think the "Mets always blow it" isn't some sort of confirmation bias; I remember reading that it's true -- the Mets do blow it considerably more often than other franchises.

And that's despite none of the players being the same, none of the coaches, none of the executives, and hell not even the owners.

10 games ago, the Tigers held a 9 game lead over the Guardians with 16 games to play. The lead is down to 1 game as Detroit has gone 1-9 while Cleveland has gone 9-1. They have a 3 game series beginning tomorrow in Cleveland. Incredibly, the Tigers are in danger of not only not winning the division but of not even making the playoffs.

Ouch. An epic collapse in the making. And I was actually rooting for them to win it all this year.

According to FanGraphs, they had about a 100% chance of making the playoffs. LOL. According to ESPN they still have an 85% chance, but wow.

During the game Saturday, the Braves announcers stated that Tigers had a 10.5 game lead on 9/7 and that the largest blown September division lead in MLB history is 7 games. Just a historic collapse if the Guardians win the division.

It’s between them and the Sox/Guardians. And they’ve got 5 games against those two teams. Win or go home Tigers.

MLB will use an automated Strike/Ball challenge this coming season. Not in Regular season-but in preseason and Playoffs
Yikes

Not just spring training and postseason, but full-time in 2026 including regular season

Unfortunately, the way my Astros are careening out these last 10 days of the season, I think the Tigers are still going to be in the playoffs...albeit as the 6th seed.

When was the last time the Reds were in the Playoffs ? could it be...........

All I know is my Braves will take a seat in a few more games and watch from the sidelines this year. A place to which they’re not accustomed for the better part of 35 + years. Glad they got one with Freddie Dansby and a coach Wash a couple of years ago.

Snit needs to retire. Get healthy over the off-season. The Braves are still loaded with talent.

I wonder if Ozzie's hamate fracture impacts the Braves decision on exercising their club option

I'm not seeing the talent. Austin Riley has declined each of the last three years and this might be closer to his new normal than his near MVP season. Baldwin seems legit, and of course Acuna, but there are so many holes. Harris had a .304 OBP last year and a .266 OBP this year. Yikes. There is nobody remotely close to being an MLB shortstop in the organization, not that I know of. LF -- I mean, Profar recovered eventually to have decent numbers, but he's 32 and he had a PED suspension this year.

There are no 2B in the organization either, if I remember correctly.

The starting rotation is loaded but pitchers get hurt so readily these days that it's hard to bank too much on the pitching.
