True. But it still averages out to another sub-par postseason, unfortunately, unless he gets another chance. He pitched great in the WC round
He came in to the game with 2 outs. I guess he just forgot how many outs there were.He wasn't getting him out at home no matter what. I'm not sure if he panicked or if he thought he needed more than one out.
Yup. Forgot the situation. That’s why he fumbled the grounder to begin with. He thought he had to come home with it. He got in a hurry and fumbled it. Had he known the situation and realized he only needed one out he wouldn’t have been in such a hurry… He would not have mis-played the grounder and would’ve taken his time, and got the easy out at first. He came in to the game with 2 outs. I was always taught the following three things for every pitch:Yup. Forgot the situation. That’s why he fumbled the grounder to begin with. He thought he had to come home with it. And this is why you simply put the ball in play boys and girls… You don’t always have to swing for the fences… Just put the ball in play make the Defense get you out. Sometimes they make an error and you’re good to go anyway.
Exactly. Expect the ball, want the ball hit to you, know exactly where you’re going with it. I guess he got caught up the moment and didn’t realize the situation coming out of the bull pen. In actuality, he got exactly what you’d want in that situation: a come-backer to the mound. Perfect. Throw a dart to first and walk back to the dugout. He made a mental error and a throwing error. Thems the breaks I guess.I was always taught the following three things for every pitch:
1. Know the situation
2. Assume every ball is going to be hit to you
3. Know what you're going to do with the ball once it's hit to you
Still tied 2-2 headed to the 13thThis 5th game between the Mariners & Tigers has been a great game to watch, now going into the 10th inning tied at 2-2.
