You cannot seriously compare a Final Four loss (with a national championship favorite, no less) to a regular season loss by a bad team.

I wouldn't care if UNC were playing Tiddlywinks University. If we lost in the Final Four, it would be much more devastating than any regular season loss, even the absurd Austin Rivers game or the one with ugly Ds and NCs on the jerseys. No credible fan of either program would ever claim to be more upset by a regular season loss than a Final Four loss.

I was young in 86 so it didn't hurt as much

99 and 04 final 4s were way more painful because in both we were the best team in the nation and failed. Those SUCKED. 99 especially
