And you are kidding yourself if you don't think that's what it boils down to. Even after all that why would someone still vote for Trump over Harris? How is Trump still the better choice? How can you still vote for a liar, cheat, convicted felon that tried to overthrow the election? How is that still better than Harris? If you still vote for Trump then you are an idiot. Or you are a racist and a bigot. You are a Christian nationalist. You are okay with fascism. Sorry, but there is not other way to explain why someone would still vote for Trump after everything he has said and done. Yes, and they are deplorable, and just calling them that isn't going to make them vote for Trump. They are that because even after all that they still voted for Trump. There is nothing, not one damn thing, that Harris did or didn't do that should have swayed anyone to vote for Trump based on reason and anything in this world that actually makes logical sense. The point is she shouldn't have had to do anything at all to get votes because there is no sensible reason for anyone to vote for Trump. This is about how half the country
is now, not her.
All very valid reasons to vote for trump:
Open borders
weak on defense
inflation / cost of daily living
her stated positions on fracking, gun buy-backs, medicare for all, trans men playing female sports (most liberal person to ever run for potus)
gross incompetence and inability to answer basic questions

The fact that you don't see how those issues are vote worthy really means you don't have a clue or understand macro issues at all and are strictly limited to character flaws as your primary reason for your vote. Tell me CF, why did trump increase his support among blacks, latino, and under 30 voters? Seriously, why? Are they racists and bigots? How about the 70% of the country that felt it was on the wrong track? Don't you get tired of going through life always thinking that every person who disagrees with me is a racist or bigot? Are you that simple minded?

All of those "very valid" reasons are based on complete fantasy. You're going to find out the hard way that we were right. Enjoy your trade war mother fucker. When Americans can't export shit and our economy gets supply-chain bottled like 2021 but worse, it will be your fault. Of course you will just lash out at other people like you always do.

When Kansas elected Sam Brownback as governor, who said he was going to put GOP economic principles into effect and did, do you know what happened? Kansas' economy and public finances tanked. FAFO

I 100% mean it. I find both to be wholly unqualified to hold the office. Neither lives on planet earth. That doesn't mean I think they are equals. It just means I wouldn't vote for either.
So, given the choice between Bernie and a rapist, you'd go with the rapist for president. I don't understand that.

Yeah, Trump voters can say it's about inflation and the economy all they want, and it may have been for some, but I have no doubt that the main driver of Trump voters was the culture wars. Cutting taxes and inflation isn't what gets Trumpers fired up and out of the bed in the mornings - it's culture war issues, especially anything dealing with the LGBTQ community and women's rights and promoting diversity. They simply hate all that with a passion, plain and simple.
Trump is scary; but something more alarming is that there is a decent chance Trump will not complete his term. That happens and we have Jethro D Vance as President.

Within the next four years, Trump retreats US into isolationism, Putin crushes Ukraine, moves on Poland, sets sites on other NATO members, Xi moves on Taiwan, Palestine wiped from the face of the Earth. I'm worried about SS and Medicare but that might be a can kicked further down the road until crunch time. I don't know what the world looks like after this, but Latinos getting deported indiscriminately and families broken apart, women getting their reproductive rights further trampled, businesses without a immigrant labor, and an American oligarchy will all be rich and just karma for the American electorate. I'm getting too old to care anymore.

They tried telling people a week ago so they could claim that. There was two years of treating Trump with kid gloves before that. Why should anyone believe them at the last minute?
The media isn't a monolith. There are plenty of media voices that have been calling him what he is for ten straight years. We can quibble all we want with the media entities that have contributed too much to "sanewashing" Trump and both-sidesing all sorts of things but that was mostly in reaction criticism from their coverage of J6 and before that people thought was too critical of Trump and biased against him.

Liberals think they enabled Trump. Conservatives long ago decided they were biased against him. If you can't see that we have collectively set basically an impossible standard for what we want media to be - in an era where they have steadily lost market share to "media" providers who lack any journalistic scruples or standards whatsoever - then I don't know what else to say.

Again, I'm not saying they're blameless. There are plenty of mainstream media entities for which I have no use whatsoever. But this relentless blaming of the media for not somehow convincing the public that Trump was evil when Trump and every other conservative with on conscience has spent a decade calling them the enemy of the state and openly wishing for their demise, I don't know what to tell you.

I feel terrible for minorities and poor people who are going to suffer, but given that liberals no longer have any power to stop Trumpers from doing whatever the hell they want, let them do what they want and see what happens.
Don't feel bad for minorities and working class people - they are the very voters who tipped the election in Trump's favor by voting Republican in record numbers. They are big boys and girls and can decide for themselves what kind of country they want to live in. They certainly don't need your pity.

There are a surprising number of people, mostly men, such as yourself I presume, that have trouble liking any woman who has achieved more success than they have. I guess you’ve a lot of women to not like.
lol, that comment was very CF worthy.

Kamala was amazing. She was not the problem.
Seriously? She did as well as she could have, sure. But, "amazing?" Given the feel of the economy for many folks, I don't know if anyone else could have won. But saying she was amazing is not being honest, imo.

Also, for someone who prides themselves on deeply thinking through things, your take is incredibly lazy.

Let's see what happens next year, I think those "big boys and girls" are going to regret their votes. And they won't get any pity, even though they'll need it.

Well, they sure won’t be getting it.

They voted against their own self interest. That will have consequences.

The race was decided long before that "gaffe." It never changed one bit. It was a simple numbers game. More of them than us.

What was she supposed to say? Change what? What should we have done about inflation, except destroy it as we have done? Like, people are hyperventilating about inflation when it's at 2% because they don't understand anything at all. We see it from posters on this board.

I don't think this was about the pandemic at all. This is just a linear progression from 2010. It's the same shit over and over again.
That you cannot comprehend that the economy doesn't feel as great to many folks as it actually is leaves me confused. (It must be that, and not that you are willfully ignoring it.)

I think it's more likely that white liberals are just so arrogant that there's a misunderstanding about this whole concept of those people's self-interest.

White liberals always think they know what is in the self-interest of minority groups, and it always seems to be that voting for the Democratic party is the answer.

People in those minority groups are starting to have their own ideas of what's best for their self-interest.
