If you're not even going to contemplate alternatives to capitulation to the fascists, then at least have the decency to stop bitching about it.

There are all sorts of civil disobedience actions that could be taken. Protests ain't gonna cut it. Maybe we need a general strike. Maybe we need to think about what the consequences should be for these people. We tried rule of law and look what happened. We need to think about whether any of Trump's pardons should be honored in the future. We need to think about removing the Supreme Court justices.

If you won't think about anything, then the result will be a bloodbath when and if the pot boils and there's no plan.
Pardon me, super, for questioning what “radical action” might mean from someone recently “hoping for Luigi”.

If Paine, rodo, law, Mulberry, nyc, etc. made your “radical” comment, I’d think nothing of it. Superrific of the zzlp, however, is a very specific character. In the vast majority of conversations, superrific gets my benefit of the doubt (hell, I read nearly every word you type). However, in this particular case, you do not, and not because I don’t trust your honesty, knowledge, or earnestness, but because I don’t presently trust your self-regulation, self-scouting, nor the directionality of some of your recent commentary.

I have said several times, this site is many things to many people. If you think it’s a good space for ideating and organizing resistance to a revanchist, lawless fascist regime, filled with the most resourced and insecure techbros on the planet, go for it. I certainly won’t participate, will likely delete, and that won’t be much loss for anyone given the cynical and snide slice of me I offer this site. But, this site dying would be a loss to many.

IMO, one of the, if not the, fastest way this site dies is if “radical action” discussion trends violent, which, again, your commentary has recently brushed upon. I expect violent rhetoric would be quite off-putting to a number of posters and some I suspect, including myself, would fear association with the potentially violent rhetoric, or hell, even perceived violent rhetoric. Again, your recent commentary has laid “hoping for Luigi”, relative to Musk, and “radical action” contextually near each other.

I fully expect a nsa, fbi, cia, and [insert musk project] filled almost entirely with “yes” men to eventually get around to monitoring the communication of Americans in a detailed and bad faith manner (I deeply hope that’s paranoid). I’d rather my news, politics, and occasional shit-posting site not come under scrutiny because an alarm went off on Musk’s phone that an online persona called superrific placed the words Luigi and Musk and Trump too near each other, a few too many times.

The type of resistance I believe necessary, for what’s coming down the pike, gets done in person, on burners, and through encrypted communication (eta: imo, even for protest organizing). I wrote that in my original comment, then deleted. Remiss. Nothing about this site is private. I’m of the opinion nothing is about to be private. This site is also frequented by maga and several Good German; the moment Gabbard or Patel or Musk or one of Musk’s 20 year old cenobites creates a”make American great again by informing on your neighbors database”, threads ideating on “radical action” that contain hints of violence are going to get reported, post haste. We have several bad faith, deeply insecure, and bitter posters.

Lastly, dude, folks exist in many spaces outside this forum, including “radical” ones. Apparently, I’ve given you the impression I’m a 2D cartoon fox, with a sock on its head. I’m not. Turns out, I exist in spaces with “radical” (not actually radical, just mainstream European style left-of-center) thought, organizing, and staunchly left-wing action. My “bitching” here offers minimal insight into my actions nor my, god’s honest truth, 3D composition.

I encourage you to start a radical action thread, if that’s how you think this site is best utilized. If I’m wrong about the direction I fear it could take, great.

Monday I called for "hitting the streets" in protest and I understand that today there was a 50 state capital protest. Great to see.

Protests are more effective, the more allies you get. Perhaps we need a thread for keeping up with allies in surprising places.

Being originally from a farming area, I think my farming friends and relatives are beginning to find out they are being screwed by Trump. Everything from billions in foreign aid purchases of farming products going away, tariff war with China screwing cotton, soybean and pecan markets, and fertilizer or potash coming from Canada being threatened. Couldn't help but notice Senator Chuck Grassely's post on that. Bet he was getting phone calls.

Point is to accumulate allies that Republicans are really sensitive to. Farmers certainly have clout, because they are everywhere in red states.
My son participated in the one in SC. He said there were probably 200 people there.

Trump administration expected to put EPA environmental justice and civil rights workers on administrative leave

“… At an all-staff meeting Wednesday with employees from the EPA’s Office of Environmental Justice and External Civil Rights, agency leadership told employees that it will be enforcing President Donald Trump’s executive order on diversity, equity and inclusion in the division. The executive order calls for the termination of “environmental justice offices and positions.”

Agency leadership told employees the order would be implemented much like it was in the agency’s DEI office, two sources with direct knowledge of the meeting told CNN. That office was shuttered and the employees placed on paid administrative leave two weeks ago.

Employees in the environmental justice and civil rights office expect to receive formal written notification of paid leave in the coming days, according to the sources.

It is unclear exactly how many individuals would be impacted. Roughly 200 federal employees work in this division of the EPA. …”

More Than 40,000 Federal Workers Have Resigned So Far, Short of Target

Uncertainty about whether they will get paid not to work through September is deterring employees who face a Thursday deadline for taking a buyout

“… When it offered the deal last week, the White House said it expected between 5% and 10% of federal employees to accept, leading to about $100 billion in savings annually, without providing information on how the estimate was reached.

Officials haven’t translated the percentage range into a specific target for the number of employees it hopes will resign. There are about two million Americans working for the federal government in civilian jobs, though some positions are exempted from the offer. …”

“… Hanging over the buyout offer is the possibility that workers who opt to keep their jobs could be targeted for layoffs later, OPM has said. Employees have been unnerved by signs of increasing pressure to push out government workers. On the OPM call Wednesday, officials discussed having agencies submit lists of employees in their probationary period who have served less than one year, or two years for “excepted service,” according to a person familiar with the matter. The Peace Corps and TSA, for instance, have high percentages of such workers.

Some federal workers are creating “virtual go bags” with their employment records for fear that they won’t be able to access those files in the future.

… “This is a rare, generous opportunity—one that was thoroughly vetted and intentionally designed to support employees through restructuring,” said McLaurine Pinover, a spokeswoman for OPM….”

Musk’s DOGE agents access sensitive personnel data, alarming security officials

The highly restricted data includes personally identifiable information for millions of federal employees maintained by the Office of Personnel Management.

“… The officials, who like others spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of reprisal, expressed alarm about potential breaches or abuses of such records by members of an administration whose senior-most officials, including President Donald Trump, have threatened to retaliate against federal workers accused of disloyalty.

… Records obtained by The Post show that several members of Musk’s DOGE team — some of whom are in their early 20s and come from positions at his private companies — were given “administrative” access to OPM computer systems within days of Trump’s inauguration last month. That gives them sweeping authority to install and modify software on government-supplied equipment and, according to two OPM officials, to alter internal documentation of their own activities.

The DOGE team’s demand for access to OPM files and networks came as Musk deputies arrived at the agency promising to wipe out 70 percent of its staff, officials said. A senior OPM official, during a team meeting Wednesday, said that core units focused on modernizing the agency’s network and improving accountability are “likely to go away,” according to a recording of the session obtained by The Post. Those who have been reassigned at the agency include the chief information officer and the chief financial officer.

Meanwhile, morale has plummeted, said three OPM officials, as DOGE agents have clashed with senior career personnel.

One official recalled a recent meeting in which a young DOGE team member began screaming at senior developers and calling them “idiots.”

… A halt to IT upgrades — along with fresh access by outsiders with the power to install new programs — could create novel vulnerabilities at an agency that has been repeatedly hacked by foreign intelligence services.

The worst came in 2014, when China is believed to have obtainedthe background investigations of more than 20 million people seeking security clearances. …”

  • Judge delays resignation plan: A federal judge in Massachusetts suspended a deadline for federal workers to apply for a delayed resignation offer until at least Monday afternoon, when a hearing will be held. The offer, which had been set to expire at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, is part of President Trump’s campaign to drastically cut the size of the federal government. The administration said tens of thousands of workers had already accepted.

Judge extends deadline for federal workers to accept Trump administration’s ‘buyout’ offer

A federal judge has for now extended a pause on the deadline set by the Trump administration for federal workers to accept a deferred resignation offer and temporarily prohibited the government from soliciting more so-called buyouts.

The temporary restraining order announced from the bench on Monday by US District Judge George O’Toole will remain in place until the judge decides whether he should indefinitely pause the offer’s deadline pending further court proceedings over the legality of the buyout program.

… during a hastily scheduled hearing earlier that day, halted the deadline until late Monday to receive additional legal arguments in a case brought against the buyout program by the American Federation of Government Employees and several other unions.

O’Toole, who was appointed to the bench by former President Bill Clinton, is continuing that earlier extension. The judge is likely to issue a written order in coming hours that more fully explains the terms of his order, but he did not say when that would come before leaving the bench Monday….”

Going after info on the defense clandestine service at DIA (assuming that is what they mean by reference to demand for undercover and embeds) is kind of shocking. I mean is DOGE really going to fuck with the DCS?
