Disinformation? On the internet? Pushed by right wingers?

This right winger had no idea he was pushing disinformation. I am sure of that.

What a reasonable and intelligent person would do is begin the question the reliability of the information they receive from that source.

That is not how conservatives of like him works. Instead assume it was just some kind of mixup and move on to the next talking point.

America is fat. It didn’t used to be. A conversation about nutrition and how we improve our physical condition is needed. Unfortunately, I suspect it’ll be shitshow.

Dems have been trying to have that conversation for decades. Any time they suggest evidence-based federal/state action to address the situation, Rs shoot it down as governmental overreach/SosHULiSm.

See, for example, the successful Obama-era initiative to make school lunches healthier that was subsequently killed under Trump.

One small comfort is that Trump usually doesn't hesitate to dump someone over the side if they become too controversial or the public turns on them and makes him look bad. Especially if they fall prey to ridicule, Trump can't stand people that SNL or other people make fun of. He got rid of his first press secretary, Sean Spicer, when SNL and other comedians made fun of him. I have a hunch that if he does appoint RFK, Jr. as some kind of "health czar" that it will quickly prove to be such a shitshow, and RFK will quickly become such a joke, that Trump will move him into the background very quickly and will probably move him out of the administration altogether. Of course anyone he gets to replace him will probably be just as bad.

Did Trump dump Spicer or did Spicer just reach his BS limit? Wasn't Spicer hiding in the trees at one point instead of being at the PC to spout more lies, or am I making that up?

When Trump appointed Scaramucci White House Communications Director, Spicer resigned as Press Secretary.

Trump was likely close to firing Spicer.

You are correct.

How do we even set ground rules to encourage good debate and progress?

Especially with the food industry loving that so many people are easily mislead. It helps them to keep pushing the shit theu call food and protecting their profits. They know that they can keep the conversation from reaching any type of consensus that would lead to meaningful change by injecting the disinformation and it being so readily accepted.

Michelle simply suggested folks eat more vegetables and the right wing MAGAs went wild crying she was going to take their Mountain Dews. The shitshow has been here for years and it's been driven by anti-fact idiots.

Maybe we should let RFK remove all of those weird dyes and additives. Turn Mountain Dew piss colored with the taste to match. 50 state Democratic landslide in 2028!

I think RFK Jr. will have a very short leash.

Trump needed his voters and doesn’t share much of RFK Jr’s thoughts on health policy. Trump isn’t using a ton of political capital here. He will cut RFK Jr at the first sign that he is a political liability.

Trump no longer needs RFK Jr’s votes.

What makes you think Trump cares about "political liabilities"?? He answers to no one now. He doesn't need to protect his political reputation. He can do whatever he wants and his followers will applaud.

There is still a price to pay for appeasing RFK. Hitler would cut loose (or in his case sometimes worse) people who became a liability. Even if not required, it makes no sense to continue with someone who causes more harm (to Trump) than good.

I thought Spicer's resignation was what created the opening for the Mooch.

Spicer was both Acting White House Communications Director and Press Secretary at the start of Trump’s 1st turn.

Some GOP lifer named Michael Dubke replaced Spicer as Communications Director relatively shortly (March); Dubke left in May. Spicer was renamed Acting Communications Director in June.

Spicer immediately resigned when Scaramucci was named Communications Director.

OTOH, Trump walks in the door as an elderly lame duck. Getting reelected is really all that mattered to him and SCOTUS wrote him a blank check to ignore the law. Will he have anyone on a leash? What does he care?
