Roll Call: Who is voting early? Who is waiting til Nov. 5 (and why?)

I'm working as a poll observer this election and we had really strong turnout in the county I'm assigned. Approx 3% of the population submitted ballots on the first day.
While observing yesterday, what’s your best estimate on Kamala vs trump voters… just in terms of how they looked, acted, said in idle conversation? Percentage wise? 50/50 like the polls say?

Snapped a picture of my favorite sign so far this election season. There are a couple dozen political signs at this intersection, even a Mo Green sign (seen in the background of the photo). I feel like someone saw all the signs and was like "eff it, I'm making my voice heard too" and threw this bad boy together real quick.

I've been planning to wait until election day. Just traditional I guess, although I also see some small benefit in giving Harris votes from the day of since one of Trump's stupid election denials will be how he was ahead on the day of the election and the "fake early votes" are what stole the election from him. I think for most people it makes sense to vote early to make sure they get their vote in, but there's no way I'm missing this election. I might change my mind before then though.

not challenging you but curious...

What is your reason for not voting early other than tradition ?

I thought I put my reasons in the original post. I like the tradition of going to the polls the day of and I think Trump will refer to early votes as fake since they are certain to lean Dem, so I thought there was a marginal benefit to providing Dem votes on election day. Again I may change my mind. My wife is definitely voting early.

yeah I edited my post earlier asking if there was a reason other than tradition.

I'm waiting until Nov. 5 because I just always vote on Election Day. *shrugs* The only time I didn't was the first year I voted in 1996. I was a senior at UNC, but from Virginia, so I voted via absentee ballot when I went home for fall break.

I guess I've never felt compelled to go early. I do understand the sentiment of wanting to get it out of the way, though.

The Trump campaign was making some noise a couple months ago about Virginia being in play, but I haven't heard a peep about it in a while. How are the state elections looking there?
From what I've been able to tell with the Prez, Senate, and HoR in my district at least, it looks like a solid blue wave.

IIRC, Virginia was much closer when Biden was still in.

I think the virginia stuff was with Biden and when Biden was truly cratering because...well, like Trump, he just isnt sharp anymore

I really couldn't say. This is a deep-red county so I don't expect much in the way of gains w/ Kamala relative to say, Biden in 2020. I'm hopeful the residents at least vote for Stein and Jackson over the alternative ... we'll see.

But even small inroads over 2000 could flip the state. Reduce the margins out there

If you're driving around Apex keep an eye out for the homemade "Michelle Morrow was at Jan 6" signs too. Whoever made those is my hero.

Yeah, I think Trump had a legit shot in VA after the Biden campaign collapse but no chance now. Kamala will win the state comfortably.

My wife and I will be voting Election Day. We’re retired, so we can vote anytime. Probably go around mid morning. Shouldn’t be busy then.

Writing as someone who has not missed voting in a primary, general or runoff election national and almost all locals in person on election day for 50+ years - save for a primary when I had the flu when my vote wouldn't have mattered anyway and a covid year I mailed in. Even when the wait was long, maybe wet, there was something about the physical act that was self satisfying and worthwhile.

But I decided I would mail in this year. It's too critical and god forbid I would be bedridden with some illness.

And remember, if you don't vote you have no right to bitch.
