thanks, zzlpitchbotIt doesn’t matter if we can’t promote an alternative. How did we get here and where do we go are important questions for all of us to consider. I’d think we’re capable of holding two thoughts in our heads at the same time. Failure to consider these questions during the Biden administration was disastrous.
Trump is a heel by nature. The United States being the good guy is like an alien language for him.The USA has now become one of the bad guys, folks. And if you disagree, how is it that we're supporting Putin and other dictators while abandoning Ukraine to its fate and deliberately going out of our way to piss off our oldest and strongest allies? It makes no sense whatsoever unless you're a Putin, Orban, wannabe dictator fanboy, and you don't care about the long-term world standing and strength of the United States.
Please, let's not associate that word with Trump and his ilk. Thank you in advance.Trump is a heel by nature. The United States being the good guy is like an alien language for him.
NATO should go ahead and take a stand by admitting Ukraine. Russia and the United States are going to do what they are going to do regardless. Best to call us out as soon as possible. Those in denial, here and abroad, need to face facts as soon as possible. The longer this charade goes on, the worse it will be.The problem right now is that there is no way NATO can admit Ukraine. It would be a death sentence. Putin will just invade again, and now the NATO countries would be put on the spot under Article V, which is not where many of them want to be. I would expect many of them would not send assistance, and NATO would fracture.
Maybe that's not the worst thing. I'd rather not have Hungary or Slovakia or other fascist-lite states in the alliance. But I have no idea how it would shake out. Zero visibility.
We are already having to deal with the Baltic state problem. Hopefully the EU member states would come to the defense of longstanding NATO members, as it's a different calculation than the country we literally just invaded. On the other hand, I'll bet sending French soldiers to fight on behalf of Estonia would be very unpopular and Le Pen would be very happy to see it. And the US would probably sit it out.
