The problem right now is that there is no way NATO can admit Ukraine. It would be a death sentence. Putin will just invade again, and now the NATO countries would be put on the spot under Article V, which is not where many of them want to be. I would expect many of them would not send assistance, and NATO would fracture.

Maybe that's not the worst thing. I'd rather not have Hungary or Slovakia or other fascist-lite states in the alliance. But I have no idea how it would shake out. Zero visibility.

We are already having to deal with the Baltic state problem. Hopefully the EU member states would come to the defense of longstanding NATO members, as it's a different calculation than the country we literally just invaded. On the other hand, I'll bet sending French soldiers to fight on behalf of Estonia would be very unpopular and Le Pen would be very happy to see it. And the US would probably sit it out.

Zelensky Says He’ll Resign from Presidency in Exchange for Peace

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said he’d step down as president “immediately” if the the country achieved peace in its war with Russia or was given a NATO membership.

“If it’s about peace in Ukraine and you really want me to leave my position, I am ready to do that,” Zelensky said at a Kyiv press conference on Sunday. “Secondly, I can exchange it for NATO, if there is such an opportunity.”

… Zelensky on Sunday denied that he is after a power grab, saying that he is “focused on Ukraine’s security today and not in 20 years.”

“I don’t plan to be in power for decades,” he said. “Therefore, that’s my aim and my dream.”

NATO should go ahead and take a stand by admitting Ukraine. Russia and the United States are going to do what they are going to do regardless. Best to call us out as soon as possible. Those in denial, here and abroad, need to face facts as soon as possible. The longer this charade goes on, the worse it will be.

NATO you mean (not the UN)?

How many deals were there in Trump's lifetime where he didn't get hoodwinked? I have to wonder just how valuable these rare minerals actually are? Most seem to be in occupied areas or close to occupied areas. After a deal is signed, it would be Trump's problem to ask Putin for them.

Pete is no warrior...He is a Trump suck up and another one of Putin's useful idiots

Merz wins in Germany. A center-right, Reagan Republican will form a coalition with the center left. If Trump wanted to make the UK - Euro sphere of influence stronger, he's done that. Euro is likely to cooperate more and trade more with China, as Trump's isolationist or slipping to Putin's side fails.

I could understand JV Vance meeting and supporting Merz as a more conservative German solution...but the f*cking neo-nazi AfD? JFC. AfD gathered 20% of the vote. Out of the government for now. AfD supports Putin naturally, which is why Trump and Vance pimped them. Musk loves the neo-Nazi part.

Fortunately, some Pubs have crawled out from their coffins and spoke out against Trump's latest Big Lie - that Zelenskyy is the dick-tater and Putin is not.

Look at all of Trump's failures from casinos to universities. Daddy Fred or Mother Russia bailed Trump out again and again.
