How many deals were there in Trump's lifetime where he didn't get hoodwinked? I have to wonder just how valuable these rare minerals actually are? Most seem to be in occupied areas or close to occupied areas. After a deal is signed, it would be Trump's problem to ask Putin for them.

Pretty much. If Russia does conquer Ukraine then Trump 2.0 will just "renegotiate" its deal with Ukraine to a new deal with Russia for the minerals. And meanwhile Ukraine gets pretty much nothing from us, other than a worthless pledge that we will support Ukraine's independence while no longer giving them weapons or the ability to actually defend themselves. Whoopee!
