"...Trump continued to express frustration with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with Fox News Radio host Brian Kilmeade.

... "I've been watching for years, and I've been watching him negotiate with no cards. He has no cards. And you get sick of it. You just get sick of it. And I've had it," Trump said of Zelenskyy.

"But we made a deal with rare earth, and Secretary of Treasury, a very good guy, actually went there, and they couldn't even come close to getting a deal done," Trump said. "And frankly, I wish he didn't go there, waste all of his time like that, but they couldn't get close. They met, right, and then when he wanted to get it close, he was unable to meet him again. But so just a wasted trip, a dangerous trip, too." ..."

Afghanistan in the 1980s didn't have any cards but they played it tough and, with US help, they brought down the entire Soviet empire. Yet our President doesn't think that precedent is in Putin's mind as leverage?
For those posters who keep saying we should cut our aid to Ukraine because they will never get their land back anyway, we should bring up this example. Our aid helped end the cold war. Huge bargain.

Putting this here for record if it does happen.
If he goes, then there's no argument to be made that he isn't a Russian plant.

The sooner that liberals acknowledge American primacy is dead and buried the better. Now that Trump and Vance have ripped apart what remained of the “rules based international order,” we can seriously think about a foreign policy that makes the world safer for everyone.

Let’s start with a system of international rules that apply to everyone, not just the countries the U.S. wants to selectively apply them to. We can’t be a nation that says rules for thee but not for me (and my allies). This way of operating has provided license to bad actors around the world.

“The US is pushing to block a Ukrainian resolution at the United Nations that condemns Russia for its war of aggression, according to people familiar with the matter.

The administration of President Donald Trump has urged all UN members to instead back a US text aimed at charting a path to peace between Kyiv and Moscow, the State Department said in a statement on Friday. …”

Whoa.......while I normally applaud and appreciate forward thinking, I kinda think liberals (and the rest of America) need to be 100% focused on containing Trump's Kingship and Dictatorship urges.

It doesn’t matter if we can’t promote an alternative. How did we get here and where do we go are important questions for all of us to consider. I’d think we’re capable of holding two thoughts in our heads at the same time. Failure to consider these questions during the Biden administration was disastrous.

Well, if we are talking about Biden/Democrat disasters..........I'd say failure to contain, stop Trump might have gotten overlooked while focusing on other things.

One of the ways Trump was able to win was via his campaign message on Ukraine and Palestine. Reckoning with the failures of liberal foreign policy is crucial.

It's more like Mitch McConnell kneeling down and thinking that the Supreme Court he jerryrigged would do his job on stopping Trump. If there's a culprit for the rise of King Drumph it's Mitch McConnell.
