I, for one, would welcome a black James Bond as long as:

1. He's British;
2. A rugged manly man;
3. Who likes women and martinis; and
4. Who looks good in a dinner jacket.

In other words, please just keep the traditional elements of the Bond series and I'm good.

BUZZ....

"What are 3 and a half out of 4 things that RamRouser is not?"

"Thanks, Ken, I'll take 'Unserious People' for $400..."

Your argument is that race is an essential characteristic of animated characters. Just sit with that for a moment, if you would.
It's not as much about changing race. It's the reason. It's the same reason Disney now has a guy with a mustache as a "princess".

Neckbeard says neckbeard nonsense. You aren’t going to convince him of anything, you are only going to get a break when his mommy waddles down to the basement with his nuggies.

Hamilton was not a remake.
I didn't see the Hamilton movie, only the musical. It was clear that they were taking the entire concept in a completely different direction not just recreating the story about Alexander Hamilton. I don't think anyone was the same race as the actual historical person.

Ok, here is another one I am going to regret. Can you link said mustached princess?

Real, however, not Disney.

None of the founding fathers broke out into song in the middle of a debate, either.

So, are you also saying that you have a problem with musicals, one of our country's greatest and most unique art forms?

I corrected my wording. I very much enjoy musicals.

Correction. Fairy godmother, not princess.

Correction to your correction: fairy godmother’s apprentice. At a theme park store.

All of which begs the question who gives a flying fuck? Talk about pearl clutching at a nothing-burger.

When talking to MAGA, skip this point. It's only a first approximation to your overall point, and this will be the only part of the post that MAGA/Zen will absorb.

MAGA can't handle subtlety, so you kind of have to present things in binary. I know, it probably goes against all your instincts. It certainly goes against mine. I don't do a good job of not qualifying, but I'm trying.

I think binary versus non-binary thinking is an important determinant of political orientation, along with some other personality traits. People who think in binary gravitate to the simplified worldview presented by the demagogues. Good guys with guns versus bad guys with guns. Europe is good or Fuck Europe. DEI = all good or all bad.
I disagree, although I understand your perspective here. Don’t want binary thinking? Don’t make binary arguments.

Right. It's a guy with a mustache, wearing a dress, allegedly on his way to being a godmother.

As I mentioned, this was the path Disney went down - the woke/DEI path.
I expect that it was the road that promised the most profit like everything else Disney ever did. It's only Trump showing his ass that changes the equation.

I wonder if he ever got the job. I also wonder how long the apprentice program is for the fairy godmother job, and whether he has to shave the mustache if he gets the job.

Right. And the right-wingers were angry about it. This is 100% an example of people complaining about minority casting in non-remakes, which you said doesn't exist. Which is fine -- very few absolute statements are literally true. But it's probably worth acknowledging that your "literally nobody" thing was vastly overstated.

Maybe he meant remakes and/or movies about historical figures.

Ok. Someone is going to be upset about anything that happens. The Disney/Woke/DEI thing, from what I saw, was a significantly bigger topic than Hamilton because Disney was fairly clearly going all-in with such nonsense.

Even my wife, who disagrees with me about trans women in women's restrooms, said she 'gets it' in regard to Little Mermaid and Snow White.
