I didn't see the Hamilton movie, only the musical. It was clear that they were taking the entire concept in a completely different direction not just recreating the story about Alexander Hamilton. I don't think anyone was the same race as the actual historical person.

I wonder if he ever got the job. I also wonder how long the apprentice program is for the fairy godmother job, and whether he has to shave the mustache if he gets the job.

Right. And the right-wingers were angry about it. This is 100% an example of people complaining about minority casting in non-remakes, which you said doesn't exist. Which is fine -- very few absolute statements are literally true. But it's probably worth acknowledging that your "literally nobody" thing was vastly overstated.

Ok. Someone is going to be upset about anything that happens. The Disney/Woke/DEI thing, from what I saw, was a significantly bigger topic than Hamilton because Disney was fairly clearly going all-in with such nonsense.

Even my wife, who disagrees with me about trans women in women's restrooms, said she 'gets it' in regard to Little Mermaid and Snow White.

You have never said what’s wrong with the actress playing Snow White. I posted an article with her picture.
Is she not white enough to play Snow White?
I guarantee you if there was no manufactured outrage about the actress, you would have no problem with her playing Snow White based solely on her looks.
 
One last comment.
Anyone who knows anything about Disney knows it does everything for one reason only - money.
When Disney hires a minority actor they do so because they believe (for probably a variety of reasons) that that decision will result in making the most money.
By the way, it’s the same when they hire white people. Sometimes they hire the right actor to meet those ends (of having a blockbuster hit) and sometimes they misfire.
Disney isn’t leaving cash on the table out of the goodness of their hearts.

Fun fact, all fairy godmothers are drag queens.
 
But also, there are a lot of young gay boys who are very insecure about themselves who dream of being Disney Princesses. Why not give some of those gay boys just a little bit more hopes that they aren’t different, aren’t alone. Honestly, I don’t get why that gives some people problems.

It’s not about you or me. Or even the guy who’s in the fairy godmother outfit. It’s about that kid, who for a moment in what may have been a very difficult childhood, feels like he, or, she, or they, or whatever he wants to be called could be a Disney Princess.
