It’s a good thing our board Trump dumpsters are busy closing the bigliest business deals that ever business’d and/or are spending the bigliest amount of time with family, because otherwise their absence would be alarming! Where’s our favorite “hypocrisy policeman” when we need him most?!

I've just been shaking my head all day at callatoroy, HeelYeah, Ramrouser and all the others who kept assuring us we were overreacting and it wouldn't be as bad as we were projecting. I guess they were right -- it's so much worse. Absolutely astonishing how much damage Trump has done in less than three months.

  • Stellantis said it is pausing production at two assembly plants in Canada and Mexico as the company attempts to navigate President Donald Trump’s new round of 25% automotive tariffs.
  • The actions will result in about 900 U.S.-represented employees at supporting plants getting temporarily laid off in addition to about 4,500 hourly workers at the Canadian plant, Stellantis said.

As a result of the pause in production, about 900 U.S.-represented employees at supporting plants will be temporarily laid off in addition to about 4,500 hourly workers at the Canadian plant, according to a company spokeswoman. Workers at the plant in Mexico will still report to the facility but not produce vehicles due to their contract terms, the spokeswoman said.

...

The Canadian plant produces the Chrysler Pacifica minivan and the recently released Dodge Charger Daytona EV. The Mexico plant produces the Jeep Compass SUV and Jeep Wagoneer S EV.

Canada announces it will build a coalition of countries who share their values to build their economy and trade opportunities and will exclude the United States. Prime Minister Mark Carney says: “If the U.S. no longer wants to lead, Canada will.”

I know someone planning to retire this year who is a diehard Trump supporter. Recently we got into a debate about how tariffs are a dangerous game of economic chicken that are going to cause a lot of pain for a lot of people unnecessarily. His response was that it was needed in order to "fix things.” I asked him if all manufacturing returned to the United States tomorrow, how would it directly help him as someone on the doorsteps of retirement- no answer. I asked him if it took a decade for manufacturing to return *and* we suffer another lost decade in terms of market growth how would it help him- no answer.

Best of luck, hoss.

If they say we need the pain...

They are fox news parrots 🦜 and incapable of reasonable thought.
