I think it’s too soon to really understand the character and the motivations of the suspect.

But based on what I’m seeing on X, the right-wing crowd is absolutely not giving up on the narrative of generally blaming left (maybe radicalized at college….the message in bullet casings echo Dem messaging…whatever). My guess is that they’ll protect that narrative with everything they’ve got, regardless of the truth. Again, I don’t not claim to have a very good grasp on what the truth of the situation is….
both sides protect their narratives with everything they got and neither will accept much less admit it.... just what controlled sheep do

Somebody I used to know a long time ago made on facebook the best example I've seen in awhile of pretending to be a centrist while actually being a right wing Trumper….

Charlie’s assasination was a turning point for me indeed, I will no longer maintain relationships with people if speaking truth earns excommunication.
Doublespeak

Some interesting observations here:

Not saying I buy all of it but gives me some things to consider. Reminds me of a Van Morrison line, with a 21st century gender switch:

All the girls walk by dressed up for each other

Yeah. This is what I have been getting at, although Burns explains it much more clearly than I could hope to, and it really scares me.

When it comes to murder for political reasons in the USA, the right has killed 5 times as many people as killers from the left since 1975.
People here can bosides all they want and accurately claim both liberals and conservatives have work to do.
But if you don’t acknowledge that the problem is disproportionately coming from the right, you aren’t being honest.

Completely agree. This - not “woke” - is the real story about the brewing/already here crisis with young men. Their brains seem so much more vulnerable to this toxic blend of crypto, sports betting, porn, rage bait, political nihilism, etc. Unless people wake up and start working together to change these online spaces and how we interact with them, we are literally going to continue poisoning peoples brains until we start to lose the ability to have healthy interactions with each other.

The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) has launched an investigation into a teacher who allegedly showed “a portion of a violent video” of the killing of American Conservative activist Charlie Kirk to Grade 5 and 6 students on Thursday.

The TDSB on Friday evening shared with CP24 a letter sent by the principal of Corvette Junior Public School to parents when asked about reports that the video was allegedly shown to the French Immersion Grade 5/6A students.

“During class, students were said to have been shown a portion of a violent video in response to questions being asked about a recent tragic event in the United States,” Principal Jennifer Koptie wrote in the letter.

She said the clip was shown once by a staff member supervising the class and not the homeroom teacher.

“While an investigation must still be conducted to learn all of the details, the report of this incident is extremely troubling and completely unacceptable,” Koptie wrote.

She informed parents that the school took immediate steps, relieving the teacher of all responsibilities pending the outcome of the investigation. Koptie added that the teacher will not be in school.

She said social work support would have been made available to the school on Friday, and planned to visit the class to check in with the students and provide support.

“I also want to assure you that our top priority is supporting students,” Koptie said.

Reminds me of Tommy Lee Jones in No Country for Old Men (and I'd argue that we are all old men here):

"I was sheriff of this county when I was twenty-five years old. Hard to believe. My grandfather was a lawman; father too. Me and him was sheriffs at the same time; him up in Plano and me out here. I think he's pretty proud of that. I know I was. Some of the old time sheriffs never even wore a gun. A lotta folks find that hard to believe. Jim Scarborough'd never carried one; that's the younger Jim. Gaston Boykins wouldn't wear one up in Comanche County. I always liked to hear about the oldtimers. Never missed a chance to do so. You can't help but compare yourself against the oldtimers. Can't help but wonder how they would have operated these times. There was this boy I sent to the 'lectric chair at Huntsville Hill here a while back. My arrest and my testimony. He killt a fourteen-year-old girl. Papers said it was a crime of passion but he told me there wasn't any passion to it. Told me that he'd been planning to kill somebody for about as long as he could remember. Said that if they turned him out he'd do it again. Said he knew he was going to hell. "Be there in about fifteen minutes". I don't know what to make of that. I sure don't. The crime you see now, it's hard to even take its measure. It's not that I'm afraid of it. I always knew you had to be willing to die to even do this job. But, I don't want to push my chips forward and go out and meet something I don't understand."

Sounds like this employee was not acting in accordance with company policy, so not questioning firing, just noting it because it’s getting a lot of right wing attention.

This, precisely.

This is why it’s fun rubbing your nose in it, @Ramrouser. Because you do it over and over and over, never learning a lesson. Your first few posts on this thread were to jump to the conclusion that the shooter must have been a transgender left winger, and that “the left” would finally get the civil war that it’s been clamoring for. You make yourself an easy target. It turns out- just as most of us said it probably would - that the shooter was a right wing gun nut, and that all of the calls for “CIVIL WAR” were coming from the right wing, not the left.
Never mentioned trans.
