Nah man. You don't understand people like ram. He doesn't have shame to face. He doesn't have a shred of doubt in his mind that he made the right choice. He thinks he's better than you, me, and all of us and that he and people like him deserve to be in charge and us and people like us deserve to be put in our place. He doesn't care about our rights and he doesn't care about whether the government takes them. There's a better chance that ram will email his Congressman with a link to this site and a request that we all be investigated for hate speech than there is that he would ever admit Trump or his administration have done anything wrong. Any lawyer with a conscience and a shred of respect for the ethics of his profession would be appalled by the fact that Trump's DOJ keeps walking into court and shamelessly lying to federal judges without ever admitting it or apologizing for it. But ram has neither so he doesn't care. Because he knows they're on his side.

This is true conservatism; conservatism as it's been since the French Revolution. These are the people who are happy to have a king as long as the king is on their side. He will make whatever justification or rationalization he has to make. Don't hold your breath thinking there is any set of circumstances that could change his mind or his opinion.

Hey @Ramrouser did you know that "the First Amendment prohibits government officials from relying on the threat of invoking legal sanctions and other means of coercion to achieve the suppression of disfavored speech"? Did you know that "Government officials cannot attempt to coerce private parties in order to punish or suppress views that the government disfavors"? How about this: "A government official can share her views freely and criticize particular beliefs, and she can do so forcefully in the hopes of persuading others to follow her lead. In doing so, she can rely on the merits and force of her ideas, the strength of her convictions, and her ability to inspire others. What she cannot do, however, is use the power of the State to punish or suppress disfavored expression."

Any idea what case that's from, ram? Or do you need to get one of the younger folks in the office to help you use Westlaw?

They could starve Disney of morning show appearances, but that is the problem, with conglomerates. Actors in Disney movies/ shows who have contracts that mandate promotion, can be ordered to do Good Morning America or whatever it is on ABC. I mean i suppose they could say the bare minimum like "this is the movie I was in. it opens on this date" and sit there for 7 minutes. That would be entertaining for me.

I don't think the shooter was necessarily MAGA. I also think that on the spectrum of "fake news" sprayed over the air daily that doesn't even register as a top 100 example of "fake news," from any side. It wouldn't rank in the 500 most obvious lies Trump and his surrogates have told about the 2020 election. If broadcasters can be taken off the air for fake news then Fox News is going to be playing reruns of the Andy Griffith show 24/7. Except of course the admin has no intention of seeking to punish fake news from the right. Or, as a lawyer would call it, they are engaging in "viewpoint discrimination."

  • He doesn’t think the Trump Administration is threatening anyone
  • He doesn’t think the FCC claims are baseless
  • He either doesn’t think the Trump Administration is coercing ABC/Disney or he thinks the coercion is justified

Greg Gutfeld literally mocked Melissa Hortman's death just this week. When another commentator compared Melissa Hortman's death to Charlie Kirk, Gutfeld mocked the comparison and basically said that nobody had ever heard of Hortman (including him) so it wasn't the same as Kirk's. There is no doubt - none - that if a liberal talking head had done that then there would have been major pressure for them to be fired (and in the current climate they likely would have), but for Gutfeld there was just crickets and not even a reprimand, much less a firing. There is a clear and growing double standard for liberal commentators and entertainers and journalists versus conservative ones - they can say anything and people shrug, including their employers, but let a liberal behave the same and it's an outrage and the knives come out for them.
