John Bonham, the best rock drummer ever, was born May 31, 1948. This was the first song Led Zeppelin played when I saw them in Greensboro in January 1975.

Drummer Charlie Watts was born June 2, 1941. This is drumming perfection.

The GOAT rock n roll band

please indulge an anecdote...

In high school we had a talent show, and a band sang this song. The lead singer went on to play in Don Williams' band and wrote a hit song " Tulsa Time " which was an ACM Award winner later covered by Eric Clapton. Here is a good version

nice guitar work for those three guys:cool:

A friend of mine was in a band (The Madisons) with Danny Flowers, who wrote Tulsa Time, in high school in Henderson, NC.

I always liked this Gladys Night cover.

In the old days, I used to always play this on the jukebox b/c I always felt like I was getting a better deal to be getting a 10 minute song for my quarter. Good version, too...

I'm just catching up on this thread, I have to say I would've guessed that Bob Dylan was more than 7 years older than Stevie Nicks. Not sure if it's b/c I thought Bob was older or Stevie was younger. Probably some combination...

In high school the name of Danny's band when it played in the talent show was The Rogues
I just talked to my friend and you are correct. They did call themselves the Rogues when they played that talent show in high school and changed their name to the Madisons after Danny quit and left town after high school.

It was the third of June, another sleepy, dusty, Delta day

oh man, I had that album in 1967 ? I think it was her first and I had a school boy crush on her:love:

I think it may have been her debut album. I later added a Bobbie Gentry/Glenn Campbell album to my teenage collection

I'm going to search and see if I can recover those on CD :)

@heelinhell

The Rogues: Front, Paul Daeke and Ted Rooker, back, Danny Flowers, Jimmie Kelly, and Dwight Rooker.

Just stop it :)

How in the world did you find that picture ? Paul Daeke was a damn good guitarist but among us he was known as the laziest man in Henderson. For so many years after high school he did not travel outside Vance County 🤪
