Trump Addresses The Nation

There is no more political support any voter can give trump at this point. He is term limited. (Not buying into him running again). Trump’s policies that I support are outside of his personal vendettas and aren’t necessarily influenced by his personality. The execution maybe, but not so much the policy.
Tariffs?

Ok. Tell me how I can offer trump any meaningful political support at this time?
Donations. Volunteering for Trump-endorsed candidates in the midterms. Calling your representatives to urge them to support Trump priorities. Petitioning on Trump issues. Attending Trump rallies. Wearing MAGA gear. Answering public polling questions in Trump's favor. Expressing support for Donald Trump on message boards.

Now some of these are more directly effective than others, but they are all forms of political support for Donald Trump. Maybe you're already not doing many or all of these.

And of course there is the opposite of political support, which would be political opposition. That is more what I was getting at with my question. Is there anything he could do that would cause you to actually oppose him - endorse his removal from office, vote against his preferred priorities and candidates, protest against him, donate to opponents, etc.

Trump’s political endorsement of other candidates is phony and based on their fellating him. His opinion has zero influence on me. The rest of the stuff I believe to be completely ineffective as it relates to trump. My opinion is irrelevant in my state as they all support him. Plus I have never, that I can recall, ever done those things. My political support for trump ended on the day of the election and im looking forward to the day he leaves.

I don’t financially support any fed or state politician. Only local ones. Im also not a protester. My lone contact with my reps was to convey my displeasure with what they are failing to do on healthcare. I favor a 1 year extension to give time to come up with the plan that they don’t have and have lied about. I see many of those things as an emotional release or something to make yourself feel better. In reality they have very little impact on what trump does or doesn’t do.

I appreciate all your answers. These are some of the questions I've had that I can't wrap my head around. I'm not sure I've got any better handle on those questions now. I hope I haven't come off as antagonistic.

Did you ever consider not voting at all, or voting third party/write in? Given what you said about your views on political participation, it doesn't seem an unfathomable option.

Personally, seeming to be a decent person is the very first hurdle to gaining my support and my vote. Policies be damned. I wouldn’t trust a terrible human to execute my policy priorities anyway. And I wouldn’t trust a terrible human with the Oval Office. That office is a pressure cooker and is going to force out into the open anyone’s true nature.

Even the left came around to admit it. It was one of the two biggest election issues. 70+ million people aren’t gullible. Maybe his base is but that is a far cry from the number of people who voted for him
It became a political issue. But why?

I’m not saying it didn’t become a political issue. Of course it did. But using voting statistics does not refute gullibility.

Not antagonistic at all and appreciate the non judgmental nature of the questions. Happy to offer my opinion. I share your feeling of trying to wrap my head around some things, only the opposite way. I have written in candidates before (maybe twice). I always vote. In my state the local elections and primaries are more important than the general as the general is pretty much determined.

My view of politics has evolved to a degree. I have come to accept that individually i really am inconsequential when it comes to national elections, but not inconsequential in local elections. I also no longer enjoy talking about politicians because it kills any discussion of actual policy. Pick any recent topic and inevitably it comes back to trump rather than the actual pros / cons of the policy. How many topics on the front page of this board don’t wind up being dominated by trump vs the actual policy? This board is dominated by emotions and I think many come here every day and some all day as a method of seeking / providing emotional support. If that is helpful then great but I’m wired to think less with emotion, especially lately. Not better or worse / right or wrong. Just a difference in people. Wasn’t always that way. I have a history on the zzl of making emotional comments. Something profound changed in me with the Kirk assassination.

How were people gullible? Doesn’t that depend on the individuals interpretation off the issue? Couldn’t the argument be made that not believing there was a border crisis is also gullible? I think gullibility is more applicable when there is little or no subjectivity

Gullibility by definition depends on individual interpretation. That’s how right wing media preys on people.

I appreciate this response. I will say that i truly believe if there is no Donald Trump then the Kirk asassination never happens. The acrimonious state of our country is nearly all the intended handiwork of Trump. He craves and throves on it and i would be truly shocked if he didnt revel in the Kirk killing as a political opportunity.

I have to ask.

How and why do you view/find Charlie Kirk to be an important person?

“Something profound in me changed with the Kirk assassination.”

Please quote him and explain how he was so important to you “that something profound in you changed with his assassination.”

That’s how the media preys on people.
So you say you are unsure on your opinion on Trump’s tariffs. That’s his signature economic policy. So, I assume you are unsure on his economic agenda.

You support his policy on immigration. But what else? Do you support taking out references to slavery at national parks? Do you support erasing references to discrimination at museums? Do you support erasing free days at national parks for MLK’s birthday? And Juneteenth? And replacing them with Trump’s birthday? You support whitewashing history?

You support that we should not take immigrants from “shithole” countries but we should allow immigrants from Scandinavian countries? You support that? That’s what you want? You support ICE arresting people here legally?

You support crypto?

You support what RFK jr. is doing at HHS.? You believe pregnant women shouldn’t take Tylenol? You believe their opinions on vaccines?

You support these things?

It really had very little to do with Kirk. I didn’t know very much about him before his killing. I went back to see where all the hate came from. It had much more to do with the unhinged hate and vile things people had to say. Actually taking joy in his killing. That level of hate and behavior was shocking to me and I decided I wasn’t going to spend any further time and energy on people like that because they were emotionally immature and incapable of any type of rational interaction. I was and am tired of the hyperbole driven world of politics where hyperbolic comments and emotional instability blocked all avenues of logic and rational interaction. I could see some of myself in it and it was disgusting. So, I took a big step back and decided I had to change from being so stressed and angry by politics. I felt manipulated by the media. Now im far less bitter about politics because I don’t spend time with those type of individuals. They don’t add anything to my life or offer anything I can learn from.

I didn’t see nearly as much from the RR murders probably because he wasn’t in the same world as Kirk but trump’s comments I found to be just as hateful and disgusting. Maybe more disgusting because he is potus and because of the hypocrisy he displayed without any care or awareness.

That’s not what I said. You missed characterized my comments.
