Trump Addresses The Nation

Makes total sense that people were upset. I'll be the first to admit the Dems royally botched the end of Biden's term. It makes NO sense, though, that the response to that unhappiness was to vote for Trump. There's not a single logical argument to support the decision to do that.
Sure there is when you separate emotion out of it. I personally feel trump is a wretched human. His comments on RR were the worst comments I have ever heard any political leader make. I can feel that way and also believe his policies are better. Kamala sure wasn’t going to close the border. She would have continued the same policies that led to the border crisis. My comment isnt intended to debate policy. Just provide an example of how someone who feels trump is a sorry human can acknowledge that and view policy separately. There are millions who feel like I do.

Two things:
1. There was a Republican primary. Trump wasn’t the only option there.
2. I don’t care for bologna sandwiches. Frankly, I’d probably have a had hard time getting one down. But if I had to eat something and my choice was between a bologna sandwich or a shit sandwich, I’m going with the bologna sandwich.

I hear you and I don't want to debate policy either (on this thread anyway), but Kamala would not have continued the same policies regarding immigration. She supported this bipartisan bill that Trump tanked -- https://www.congress.gov/bill/118th-congress/senate-bill/4361

I only mention that because it's kind of the point. I cannot think of a single policy area Trump has handled with more thoughtfulness and effectiveness than Kamala would have done. I agree the china shop needed to be straightened up a bit. Some of the inventory needed to turn over. Some of the displays needed to be rearranged. But you guys chose a bull to do the job. And now the china shop is a Grade A disaster.

I get where you're coming from on separating personality and policy. I swear I'm not trying to bait an argument or anything, but I'm genuinely curious how far this logic goes. Is there anyone you wouldn't vote for even if they more closely aligned with your preferred policies? A klansman, for example?

Because it is nonsensical. If you go to a restaurant and order a diet Coke and the waiter asks "Is Pepsi ok?" You're allowed to be a little upset about it, but it doesn't mean choosing to express your disappointment by drinking bleach instead makes sense.
A better analogy is if I went to the fair and had 2 choices for food. One option is corn dogs sold by a mean person and the other is a shit sandwich sold by someone that didn’t say mean things.

I get you think that because you don’t favor his policies. But I don’t think it’s a disaster. That isn’t to say i favor everything he has done and think they are screwing up the healthcare situation so badly that it alone will cause them to lose the midterms. (At least that is the way I feel today). But overall I favor more than i dislike and have no problem with admitting where they screwed up.

Because the man is so toxic thay he has single handedly destroyed any hope of building any meaningful societal progress for at least the remainder of all of our natural lives.

If you can't see that the pendulum swing from Trump will be 1000x worse than anything you have ever seen for your own political desires then I don't know what to tell ya. Every single conservative value hat you hold has been decimated for the remainder of your lifetime as soon as he is dead or out of office.
