It’s possible to ignore many of the Blue areas: any in the Dakotas, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, South Carolina, Florida……ignore the blue areas in New England, Maryland, Delaware, New Mexico, California, Oregon, Washington……The military doesn't actually have to take over that much land. Just the blue areas. And probably not all of them.

I'm not convinced the military could effectively take over more than one of NYC, Chicago, or LA at once. Not to mention having to also "take over" 30-50 other medium to large metro areas. And that is even assuming you could actually convince most of the military to engage in what would essentially be a police deployment on American soil.The military doesn't actually have to take over that much land. Just the blue areas. And probably not all of them.

I’ll feel a lot better about that when we see someone in the military pushing back. So far, all we’ve seen is a bunch of National Guardsmen more than happy to hang out in LA, spread mulch in DC, and shoot at sagebrush in south Texas.
The first one to push back will be removed.

You seem to be saying “eh, it’s not so bad now, and any major expansion would be really hard to undertake.”
The fact is that the NG hasn’t received any significant pushback from the populace. A sandwich has been thrown, and the admin is trying hard to send that evildoer to prison.
What happens when this becomes much more commonplace, as Trump seems intent on making a reality?
What happens when the NG aren’t just relegated to picking up trash, but are instead tasked with navigating confrontations with hordes of angry protesters? What happens when they’re armed and in the heat of the moment?
That time is coming.

I know these things don't happen overnight. Where we differ is that you seem to treat it as a foregone conclusion that all of these terrible things will happen. That what we are seeing now are inevitable steps on the road to a full-blown military dictatorship. I am not disputing the possibility that any of these bad things may happen; I am simply saying that treating them like a foregone conclusion is not necessarily the best course of action. And in particular because the people you need to convince of the danger of Trump and his admin are not going to respond to breathless warnings that if we don't stop now we will be living in the full-blown Third Reich within a few months. Persuasion is the whole point. Warnings are useless when they're shouted into the void and fall upon deaf ears. And as I've said before, overstating the immediate danger Trump posed during his first administration is part of the reason we got Trump 2.0 in the first place.
I certainly wish the government of DC had resisted the presence of national guardsmen more strongly - like city and state officials did in LA, and like city and state officials are preemptively doing in Chicago. But having done so there is no real "pushback" for the populace of DC to make. The National Guardsmen are just standing around and milling about. They aren't making arrests; they aren't using force; they aren't restricting access to public areas; they aren't really doing anything remotely threatening. There aren't any "hordes of angry protestors" for them to confront. What exactly is it that you wish the populace of DC was doing right now? Walking up to bored national guardsmen - most of whom are probably at least a little embarrassed about the whole thing - and spitting in their faces? What point would something like that serve?

None of this is true. Law enforcement intimidates a LOT of people who are not doing anything wrong at all. I'm uncomfortable around most law enforcement officers. I'm uncomfortable around anyone who is armed. I think there are a lot of law abiding citizens who are far more uncomfortable around LEO's than I am.
