The University of North Carolina didn't elect trump. Teaching its students to uphold the law and following federal law has no bearing on who the country elects. The university should be politically neutral and focus on its mission of educating students, not playing politics.
And im not speaking about the micro issue of ahat UNC does or doesn't do. I'm speaking about the absolute impossibility to seriously tout the value of following the law while simultaneously slurping Donald Trump. The fact that it comes from the self-anointed hypocrisy monitor is just beyond the pale.

Simply put...support for Donald Trump yields one neutered from commentary on who should and should not follow the laws of this nation.

There are four terms by which I say you can gauge a moron.

1. They call other people "sheep."
2. They call other people "sheeple."
3. They say, "your ilk."
4. They describe themselves as a "free thinker."
Well, shit. I like using "your ilk" when talking about their ilk. Guess I'll have to either reconsider or not give a damn. Mmm, which seems easiest.

Transporting the deportees on civilian passenger planes without being restrained was always Petro’s primary demand. He’s not “buckling under”. That is typical NY Post bullshit.

Yea, the point was more how does it work.

My company laid off the entire training and most of the quality team last year. Guess what, training and quality are now big issues. Labor cost savings are not always greater than the other issues they cause.

I'm sort of hoping they lay off the engineering department this year. I'd be ok with a year's pay and time to plan for the future.
Just think how much you could post while unemployed!

Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro buckles under Trump’s trade war threat — offers presidential plane for deportation flights

Colombian President Gustavo Petro quickly reversed course about accepting flights of deported migrants from the US after President Donald Trump threatened emergency tariffs of up to 50% on the South American country for refusing to cooperate.

Petro not only acquiesced to Trump’s demands, he even offered up the official Colombian presidential plane to help shuttle migrants back to the country, calling it a response to “the Government’s commitment to guarantee decent conditions.”

“The Government of Colombia, under the direction of President Gustavo Petro, has arranged the presidential plane to facilitate the dignified return of the compatriots who were going to arrive in the country today in the morning, coming from deportation flights,” a translated official statement read in part. …”

Other outlets don’t seem to be reporting this translation, so I guess we shall see.

@donbosco — have you read the response by any chance?

“… Hours after Trump’s announcement, Colombian President Gustavo Petro said he ordered the commerce ministry to raise tariffs on US imports by 25%. “I am informed that you impose a 50% tariff on the fruits of our human labor to enter the United States, and I do the same,” Petro wrote in a long post on X aimed at Trump, before he announced the 25% tax on US goods.

… Petro responded dismissively to Trump’s announcement, writing on social media, “Trump, I don’t really like traveling to the US, it’s a bit boring.” He went on to criticize Trump’s policies and character, even suggesting the US president considers “me an inferior race and I’m not, nor is any Colombian.”

The US Embassy in Colombia suspended visa processing in retaliation for Colombia’s refusal to accept repatriation flights, a State Department official told CNN on Sunday evening. The suspension applies to immigrant and non-immigrant visas, which typically number in the thousands each day.

American Citizens Services will continue as normal, the official said. They stressed that the situation is fluid. …”

Sorry, lol. I probably should move it to my "it's complicated" terms, like "constitutional conservative." I've used it myself. But I just see so many of that, well, ilk, using the term. So I avoid it.

"I was wrong about how long you have been posting but dead on about you being a total ass, hypocrite and the most bigoted poster on this board."

Republican Senators Call on Trump to Rethink Revoked Security Details

Senators Lindsey Graham and Tom Cotton said that the former Trump aides faced continuing threats from Iran and that the decision could affect how current officials do their jobs.

“… Senator Tom Cotton, Republican of Arkansas and the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, and Senator Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina, spoke after Mr. Trump abruptly halted government security protection for three officials from his first time who were involved in his Iran policy and have remained under threat.

One of them, John R. Bolton, Mr. Trump’s third national security adviser, has been a vocal critic of Mr. Trump since departing the administration in 2019. The other two, his former secretary of state Mike Pompeo and another former top State Department official, Brian Hook, have been supportive of Mr. Trump. His decision to pull their details surprised and alarmed some of the president’s allies.

“I would encourage the president to revisit the decision for those people who are being targeted by Iran, as the president was targeted for assassination by Iran,” Mr. Cotton said on Fox News. He said he had reviewed current intelligence and that the threats remained real.

… Mr. Graham deflected a question about whether the withdrawal of protection amounted to retribution by Mr. Trump against Mr. Bolton but said, “The question is, do you deserve protection because you served an administration, you stood up to a foreign adversary, and they want to kill you?"

Mr. Trump has also pulled the security for Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, the infectious disease expert who advised the first Trump administration during the coronavirus pandemic. Dr. Fauci has been a target of Mr. Trump’s political base for almost five years including threats against his life. …”

This is being discussed in the immigration/deportation thread but also relevant, I think

"...that the decision could affect how current officials do their jobs."

That's the point.
