I've heard more than one report that the Biden admin felt like they'd have to concede some portion of Ukraine to Putin to end the war.

Kind of makes you wonder if that's why the war wasn't ended under Biden, no? Just putting 2 and 2 together here...

I assume that it was better than publicly saying that we were better off the longer they fought as long as the Russians didn't actually win. The Ukraine winning or the war just grinding on was the best return on foreign military aid since Lend Lease.

He’s cutting out our European allies and Ukraine from the peace negotiations. What could possibly go wrong?

Bad for whom? Trump and Putin, no. Ukraine and Europe (outside of Belarus and maybe Hungary and Slovakia), yes.

Could be, but it seems very unlikely that Putin is going to agree to end the war without being able to say he 'won' something. Doing so would be the end of his Presidency.

The Pubs undermined Ukraine. That's why the war didn't end before now. If Congress hadn't sat on its ass for six months complaining about "America First" and sent Ukraine the equipment Ukraine was calling for, then Ukraine would be in much better shape. We might even imagine that Russia would be suing for peace.

But the Pubs did their thing and, as usual, the world suffers from it.

No, it's the same damn topic. I can't tell if you are really this stupid or if you just enjoy pretending like you are this stupid.

Biden withheld the bombs in order to specifically demonstrate our position on Israel adopting a hyper-aggressive offensive stance against Palestine that involves mass carnage and destruction.
 
Napoleon didn't save France; he just took over the country, set himself up as a dictator (later Emperor), and proceeded to waste the lives of millions of Frenchmen by trying conquer pretty much all of Europe for nearly two decades until he had virtually exhausted the country militarily and economically, and his reign ended with total defeat for France. Yes he did some positive things in that time, but overall it's hard to see his long-term career as anything other than one of military and political disaster for France. Not that Trump likely knows or cares about any of that, of course.

A friend of a friend (actual friend, not Facebook fiend) posted this on Facebook:

Today I lost my dream job as a permanent park ranger in the NPS. I'm still in shock, and completely devastated. I have dedicated my life to being a public servant, teacher, and advocate for places that we ALL cherish. I have saved lives and put my own life at risk to serve my community. And today, without any warning, I got a termination email stating:

"The Department determined that you have failed to demonstrate fitness or qualifications for continued employment because your subject matter knowledge, skills, and abilities do not meet the Department's current needs, and it is necessary and appropriate to terminate, during the probationary period, your appointment to the position of Park Ranger."

This is the biggest slap in the face imaginable.

This decision has nothing to do with performance or the needs of the department.

My supervisors and park leadership have made it clear that I am a valued and essential part of the team. This decision came from the top, DOGE and the new federal administration.

I honestly can't imagine how the parks will operate without my position. I mean, they just can't. I am the only EMT at my park and the first responder for any emergency.

This is flat-out reckless.

There are 800 other National Park employees that unexpectedly lost their jobs today and thousands of people in other agencies. They are now unemployed. Those who lived in park housing are now homeless. They have no income to support their families, by the act of a single layoff. These are US citizens, with background checks and college degrees.

These are the people who teach your Jr Rangers, build your trails, clean your restrooms, rescue injured visitors, and keep the parks operating. We are not the excess.
We are essential to maintaining access to parks.

My heart is broken for all of the other people who lost their jobs and their housing. My heart is broken for the parks and landscapes that will be damaged. And my heart is broken for my country.
