You can take one look at Barack and Michelle and realize that these are people who might sign up for anti-obesity policy. I think RFK, Jr. and Trump will have a rather quick falling out, and he may be the first of these cabinet officials to go. Trump doesn't hesitate to turn on people once they cause controversy and make him look bad (see Rudy as just one example), and he'll likely gradually shed all of these more incompetent appointees (after they've already screwed things up, of course, and will replace them with even dumber ones probably). But I have a hunch that RFK, Jr. will be one of the first to go.

I suspect RFK will have a career like Ben Carson. If he keeps his head down and talks primarily to the anti-vaxx communities, he'll be fine.

He is about the performance — “reality” tv governance by pretense (and straight up disinformation as suits). He has already shown he will misrepresent his calls with foreign leaders and sort of dare them to correct the record, so who knows what was actually discussed and agreed.

Oh that’s hilarious. Plenty of farms have tried getting non-migrant labor and paying decent wages, but nobody wants to do it.

I remember one particular case where they had lined up a bunch of US workers to come pick crops for like $15 an hour. Only a couple of people who were hired showed up, and of those only one came back the next day, but he didn’t come back again after that.

No, but he's also someone who wants to have his views legitimated. Without Trump, he's just a fringe guy again with no friends because the right doesn't trust him and the left now fucking hates him (if we didn't already).

Maybe Ben Carson was the wrong example. I just meant someone who lasted a while because of a complete lack of interest in doing anything. RFK Jr. strikes me as all talk, all hat and no cattle. Trump won't mind if he's just up there ranting about vaccines. RFK won't mind if he's given that platform.

I mean, it certainly wouldn't surprise me if you're right -- and of course, this is all contingent on him being confirmed, which is very far from given -- but I'm not sure the relationship is quite as doomed, so to speak.

Junior Kennedy is also unlikely to do the one thing Trump can’t allow or forgive - ask for or demand money. That was Rudy’s unforgivable error. He voiced that he wanted/wants his legal bills paid and that he wanted Trump to actually pay the legal fees that Rudy submitted for payment.

Silly Rudy…..the grift belongs to Trump.

I'm a big fan of using prison labor to pick crops, meat packing, etc. Paying them the going rate, taking the money and putting it in a fund to support their burden to the state, pay restitution where applicable, and investing it for them so that when they get out they actually have something to begin a new life with rather than giving them $200 and a bus ticket (if that type of thing is done anymore)

I picture the grift and graft shown in Shawshank Redemption as exemplified by the warden. Or, worse, the road, lumber, farm, and mining crews, particularly in the South, between the Civil War and WWII.
