So you have the same expectations from the president as you do 10 year olds on social media?

I've always expected more from my leaders.

Leaders should work to bring people together. Petty bullshit like saying she's bad at her job is so far below that of a good leader, but it's the nor for Trump.

Do you and your colleagues sit around talking down about everyone, making fun of mentally challenged people, or judging people's lives or job performance based on who they voted for?

Do you see this behavior as that of a good leader? Would you want to work at a company where the CEO routinely treated people like shit?

Budde’s a committed social justice warrior and activist so she’s used to the heat. Plus, she’s making the rounds on television today basking in her 15 minutes of fame. Trump’s tweet towards her only enhances her liberal bona fides.

May I ask you what about her message yesterday in particular is worthy of the derision and disdain that Trump has displayed- and presumably yourself, judging by your reflexive defense of Trump's reaction to her message?

Is preaching a message of loving one's neighbor and showing compassion and pleading for mercy for the weak, marginalized, and downtrodden, somehow some dirty "liberal bona fides"? If so, do you also believe that Jesus Christ of Nazareth held dirty "liberal bona fides" considering he, quite literally, preached the exact same message in the Gospels on multiple occasions?

Thanks in advance for your willingness to educate myself and others on the board as to how and why a purportedly church-going Christian like yourself finds fault with the Bishop's sermon and not with the President of the United States for finding fault with the words of Christ?

Trump's reaction, as we should expect, was unprofessional and unpresidential.

For me, she seemed to take an almost activist tone. Not that she was wrong in what she was saying, but the tone felt out of place for a religious service/ceremony.

More so than the multiple times Trump has been proclaimed as Chosen by false prophets on stage?

I haven't watched the video of the sermon and have only read the transcript, so admittedly I have no idea about the tone itself. But from reading the words she spoke, I don't think it's a reasonable argument to say that essentially using the words of Jesus Christ Himself from the Gospels of the New Testament themselves are "out of place" in any way in....a religious ceremony inside of a church.

This. Plus, the religious service was in the National Cathedral as a part of the official Inauguration ceremonies. No place for a lecture to the President of the United States by an activist.

Says a whole heck of a lot about the strength, authenticity, and conviction of your supposed faith that you believe that 1. the words of Jesus Christ are an unnecessary "lecture", and 2. that the President of the United States is somehow above being "lectured" by the words of Jesus Christ.

Also, what exactly do you think Jesus Christ was, if not an "activist"?

Regarding the firehose of EO's this week, it is becoming apparent to me that they are the brainchildren of Stephen Miller, perhaps even written or dictated by Stephen Miller himself, and simply signed by Trump. I don't think Trump really knows, or even really cares to know, what's in them. It was really clear that this is true by the way he answered questions about them to reporters. Every single one of these EO's are Miller's ideas that he has previously expressed.

Jesus's entire message was about justice, equality, and love of others. He was a political figure- hence, his political execution- who used creative acts of civil disobedience- such as flip the tables in the temple- to challenge the status quo and offer an alternative vision. He promoted peaceful disagreement disobedience. He publicly denounced the political and religious leaders of the day.

In what way was Jesus not an activist?

I think Heritage, and Russ Vought in particular, has been working on them for years. Miller has been closely connected to that group, but this is all straight Project 2025.

Yep. Totally agree. I think they recognize that they essentially have an 18-month window to accomplish the "shock and awe" before the 2026 midterms. And not to put the cart before the horse, and not to diminish the big uphill climb that Dems will have to take to win, but I think that the Millers and Voughts of the administration recognize that their policies are wildly unpopular and that they could lead to loss of one or both chambers of Congress in November 2026.
