He was never authorized to have them to begin with, so yea it is kind of different.
I have not heard that. Where did you see it?

Edit:
Maybe I am misunderstanding your statement. Are you saying he was not authorized to see them at the time they came into his possession? Or are you saying that he wasn't authorized to have them at some point when they were in his possession, i.e., when he was a private citizen?

So what level of proof do you need to get that fisa warrant?
If you are the judge and you find out that you were misled or lied to what do you do? Oh well?
How do you ensure accountability?
Do your politics have any sway as to what is legitimate or not?
These are fair questions and things that should be addressed by courts and the legislative body responsible for creating the FISA program. But until specific issues are raised in court or clarified through new legislation, shouldn’t DHS and DOJ use the tools available to them when there is reasonable suspicion of criminal activity that could involve national security threats posed by foreign adversaries?

He was authorized to possess them while he was VP ( just like Mike Pence ) and once discovered after leaving office he immediately turned them over just like Mike Pence did when it was discovered he had classified documents stored at his home in Indiana

So unlike Trump who was knowingly hiding documents and refusing to turn them over, you are correct ; the circumstances are "kind of different"

On the surface yes. But not when those agencies have a political agenda. The important question is what is done when that agency abuses its power driven by its political agenda? How do you think that should be addressed?

Probably the same place he saw that inflation outpaced wages. We’re still waiting for a link to that.

So, politicians should never be prosecuted because they can cry politics?

Yeah. I edited my response b/c perhaps I misunderstood the statement. I still don't get it though.

And how does replacing the civil service and DOJ with Trump loyalists solve or improve that problem?
Does making the guy who tweeted that liberals should suffer AG make it less political?

I don’t think Republicans will like it when the shoe is on the other foot and a populist Democratic president is able to replace every bureaucrat as they see fit.

Heritage Foundation ought to think twice though because while their immediate goals align, the long term goals do not. Having a POTUS who is only seeking dictatorial powers isn't exactly what HF wants but it is what they are going to get. Luckily Trump is old but if I had to guess he wants the Trump dynasty to be just like the Kim dynasty in North Korea.
I actually don't think this is right. I don't think Trump has any desire to create a familial dynasty. He only cares about his own glory, not his family's. I don't think he really gives two craps who takes over for him when he's gone, as long as it's someone who celebrates him as the greatest president of all time. There is going to be a mad scramble to try to influence Trump to throw his weight behind a successor after his term is over. The Musk/Thiel wing will likely be pushing Vance, unless they find a more useful prop for their purposes. The Heritage Foundation wing will push one of their own, whoever that may be (Tom Cotton?). Various Trump family members and their spouses will be jockeying for position, though I would be absolutely shocked if one of them ended up the crown prince or princess. Vivek may factor somewhere in all of this. But it will be really interesting to see who wins that fight and how it progresses. Hopefully it will be bitter and messy, but I'm not counting on that.

Of course they are going to implement Project 2025. That was always the plan. Trump lied, as he always does.

My gosh, Nick Fuentes and others are already posting crap like "your body, my choice, forever" to women. This is the same Nick Fuentes Trump hosted at Mara Lago.
Trump himself doesn't care about Project 2025. The Heritage Foundation wing think they can convince him to to do a lot of it, but if they do they won't be selling it to him as "Project 2025" they'll be manipulating him to do it for other reasons.

Trump absolutely courted Nick Fuentes and his openly racist and misogynistic followers, and Republicans will continue to court those types, but they will also keep them at a distance. I am fairly confident that Nick Fuentes will not be anywhere NEAR a position of influence within the Trump administration. The adults in the room know how toxic that guy is to a large part of the electorate.

Thing is, if you accept the premise that there is a corrupt deep state this all sort of makes sense so this won't phase a MAGA one bit.

Trump knows the deep state is all bull. If you read between the lines, the targeting of the deep state is really targeting anyone who isn't sufficiently loyal to Trump himself. And that is terrifying.

This is absolutely an authoritarian play but MAGA won't see it until it is far too late.
Not sure there is a far too late. This is what MAGA wants. They want to turn the US into Russia, not knowing that the average Russian's life is utter shit.

Define "political agenda."

They are not planning on ever having a Democrat president again.

Palantir stock is up 39% since the election
I spent so much time watching Trump's stupid ass DJT stock that I didn't even think about the obvious beneficiaries if Trump won the election: Thiel and Musk. Could've bought cheap (anywhere from 15 to 40 cents) out of the money calls expiring today on Palantir and Tesla this past Monday. The Palantir Nov 50 calls expiring today are currently trading $8, i.e., 2000% increase since Monday, i.e., $10,000 on Monday is now worth $200,000. The Tesla Nov 300 calls expiring today (these could've been gotten all day long on Monday for 15 cents) are currently trading $18.50, a ~13,000% increase, i.e., $10,000 on Monday is now worth $1.3 million. DOH!! Still would've hating seeing Trump win but that sure would've taken a little bit of the sting out of it, at least on a personal level. I doubt I would've had the balls to put $10K on those positions even if I had thought about it but I probably would've put a grand or two on it. Certainly wouldn't have been life changing but it woulda been nice...

Of course they will keep Fuentes at a distance. However, many of the "adults" in the room of this administration, I suspect, will agree with Fuentes on a lot of issues.

As for Project 2025, I think Trump knows what it is. I don't think he really cares about it, except in this way: it is about giving his office more power and installing sycophants. Trump's all in on those things.

government "leaking" isn't something to be admired. I guess you could always cherry pick instances where leaking was a good thing in hindsight but as a whole it isn't good and should be stopped. Putting together a truth commission to declassify material is pretty straight forward and doesn't follow the path of a fascist. Anything that is done can be manipulated or corrupted but what he said every American should be in favor of if it is conducted in good faith and with good intentions.
Turns out Trump was the biggest leaker but he had to do it

TSLA is trading as if the US is about to start sending Teslas to Ukraine.

Sounds like to me he wants to radically improve transparency and accountability in government and prevent spying on US citizens. That's opposite from what a fascist would do.

Couple of good ideas (term limits/not being able to work for companies you work with while employed) sandwiched between tons of retribution for people/agencies that attempted to hold him accountable for his crimes.

TSLA and DJT are probably highly correlated. TSLA's jump is probably because TSLA can't sell cars outside the US right now (as their cars are total shit compared to Chinese and European EVs) and they are hoping the tariffs will allow them to sell more cars in the US
