TV Streaming series to talk about.

That had some scares, but the one that really got to me was "Metalhead," about the killer robot "dog." It was scary enough I actually don't want to watch it again.

You can buy a peaceful (?) one now for the low, low price of $74,500. Hurry, supplies are limited.
Not guaranteed to be safe from being hacked by nefarious actors or the now fascist American government.

What was it about that episode that bothered you?

I watched it again yesterday. I didn't find it as compelling as many others.

I haven't read this whole thead so this might've already been mentioned, but did anybody watch the series from before Covid (mostly) called Better Things? I thought it was good...

I was there in 2020 when the woman set the first record. We retired to Portugal in 2018 and live in the north. But during a break in the lockdown of Covid we went to the Algarve to get away from being locked up for months. However, our vacation was cut short and we had to return home due to new quarantines. But we didnºt have to be home until midnight, so we took our time ambling home, making several stops along the way, including Nazare. Normally somewhat of a sleepy beach town, in the middle to late fall, it becomes the mecca for surfers as the storms bring huge waves. We tried to stop and get out, but couldn´t find a place to park. That day was 102 foot waves. We stopped at the next beach up and caught the info about the record-breaking height of a wave being surfed. So close to having been able to see it.

I think you are on to something when you say, "as many others," because I read a lot of reactions that this was indeed a very scary episode for many viewers. I've always noted that both horror and comedy in narratives are very personal to various people, and can differ hugely.

What bothered me is it depicted an unthinking and 100% relentless enemy, one with speed, skills, and problem-solving devoted to just killing people. The chase aspect was dynamic and frightening to me. One thing it reminds me of is insects on kill missions, like when you disturb a wasp nest. There is no thought at all--just total and suicidal devotion to attacking with its devastating weapon. It's also a boldly grim tale, set in a destroyed world, and depicts how drones might very well be used in the future to just wipe out a population of humans.

The episode also is a semi-homage to the excellent, wordless Twilight Zone episode where the old woman fights a tiny killer alien in her house.

Watched the two-part documentary on Pee-Wee Herman a couple of days ago and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Watched the Titan sub implosion documentary on Netflix tonight. Stockton Rush was a pompous, arrogant, narcissistic, psychopathic asshole. It's too bad the thing didn't implode on one of his solo dives.

I was thinking about the "Metalhead" episode, and why it personally scares me, and suddenly remembered a legendary TV episode from my childhood... If you know you know, on this one.

I was too young or not born yet but this was infamous, everyone for years used to talk about how it screwed them up and they had to sleep with lights on haha. Some kind of voodoo doll that came to life and chopped people up and you couldn’t kill it.

WTF is that?

It’s a live Zuni fetish doll from the 1975 ABC Movie of the Week, “Trilogy of Terror.”
Weird that I missed that entirely. Should have been in my wheelhouse. Wasn’t Karen Black in one of those stories as twin sisters? I recall seeing her in Trilogy of Terror but somehow have zero recollection of that thing. Maybe I fell asleep before that tale …

Karen Black starred in all three segments.

Yes, I read several reviews stating it was the scariest of the Black mirror episodes.

Your explanation has made me consider watching again.
