I'm sure all the behind-the-scene conversations between the Dem lawmakers are calm, collected and unified. No question that the pressure is building on both sides as we approach Nov 1st with unpaid workers, SNAP benefits ending and ACA open enrollment. That's why we should open up the government with a clean CR and negotiate the ACA subsidies. Trump said he's willing to participate in those negotiations and Thune has promised a vote on it.

Lol, they wanted a CR for 2 weeks to negotiate those issues. They have now had 4 weeks and done nothing. The government being closed doesnt mean Congress needs to be closed. Seems a bit disingenuous, no?
 
I do fear that with the SNAP deadline on Friday and with a large labor union calling on Democrats to back down that Democrats will cave to the pressure and vote to reopen the government. And if they do that Republicans will crow and claim victory and Democrats in the future will find that threatening to shut down the government gives them no leverage whatsoever, as Republicans will know that they will eventually cave first. So the one thing they have left that they do have some control over will disappear, and they will truly be an utterly powerless minority in the House and Senate. Which they already are except for their ability to block a budget from being approved.
