It is surprising to me that high3* frosh are making 200k. Is that really the case?
I would think some of the low-star guys are offered something tiny with the promise that they can earn more as sophomores if they are decent... especially these secondary and RB who like like dime-a-dozen.
No no no, don't mistake my post. I have absolutely NO IDEA what the amounts are. I just took a swing at guessing. How do you think 10m gets spent on 39 kids on average? Just spitballing. Its probably wrong to use stars as the reference for payment. Position group is probably more accurate.

I have no idea about the values, but if that's what they are meant to be...would that mean whomever is assigning the values doesn't have a high opinion of some of the class?
It’s just a formula. No one is making a subjective judgment as part of the analysis. It really is just trash and detracts from the quality of the site. The best advice is to completely ignore it.

I think the only thing that Belichick did a good job of this season was setting the bar low early. It looked so pitiful through the first 5 games that when the team did the absolute bare minimum and showed some competitiveness against a handful of bad to mediocre ACC, people actually thought it was some sort of meaningful accomplishment.

The reality is that for the majority of the season the team looked like they were just going through the motions. The defense looking competent at times is about the only remotely positive takeaway, and even then we still got routinely carved up and pushed around on that side of the ball.

Whole situation is depressing. Only UNC would be arrogant enough to double down on an obvious mistake and force the fans through another season of this mess.
Couldn’t agree more, with every single word. The most damning things of all, to me, was 1. watching some of our players loaf at various points throughout the season(saw it in the first game against TCU, we saw it against UCF, we saw it against Clemson, then we saw it against Wake Forest and NC State) and 2. the stunning lack of discipline. Of all of the things that I expected we would or would not see out of a Bill Belichick coached team, it never even remotely once crossed my mind in the preseason that we would ever have to worry about effort, or that we would ever see a complete abandonment of basic fundamentals (we had drives with multiple substitution infractions) and maintaining composure (the drive killing or drive extending personal fouls).

You could’ve told me before the season that we were going to run a bland, boring, unimaginative, uncreative, risk-averse ball control offense and I would have believed it in a split second knowing what kind of philosophy Belichick has. You could’ve never in 1 million years told me that we were going to be routinely out-efforted, out-competed, or out-disciplined.

To me, you can fix style of play in terms of offensive scheming and play calling, a hell of a lot easier than you can fix the very clear cultural problem that we have with effort and discipline.

I wonder...how would have Mack fared this year?
He also would've had to rebuild the DL, LB and secondary via the portal since Echols, every DL but Beau, Leroy and Tyler Thompson, the two starting safeties from last yr and Huzzie all graduated.
And he probably would've had to rely on the portal for OL since Trevyeon Greene, Blaske and Banfield were the only guys returning who were experienced. Or else he would've been playing Trevyeon and Zach Rice as our tackles.

Something that doesn't make sense to me: so this incoming freshmen class is to be the cornerstone of the rebuild.

Our 73 year old coach is beginning a complete rebuild in his second season. So the rebuild will start to pay dividends when he's 76? 77?
Just in time to run for POTUS!

I hear ya, your guess is as good as any.

ETA you said "4* - 8 recruits x $750k per player = $6m" but 12 could be likely and that would be 9 million. So i guess that kinda makes more sense...

I suspect that the hope is that he will pass the team onto his son (Steve) at some point. There would, however, have to be evidence that his son is qualified to take over, which would involve, you know, actually showing success.
I think that has been their plan - Steve to take over.
