I really hope it is true.If what the university wrote in that press release is true, then CBS was in the wrong and it should be dealt with at a high level because what a preposterous turn of events.
Bill and Jordon better hope CBS stops at this statement and doesn't have any unreleased footage that they decide to release.
Maybe, maybe not. CBS is having their journalistic credibility attacked by the greatest football coach of all time in a very public manner. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest for them to say, "okay, here's the unreleased footage. The public can decide for themselves."They aren't going to release any unreleased footage. This isn't the president accusing them of a crime. They will never get another interview again if they stab BB like that.
Is it true that BB has been open about meeting Jordon in Palm Beach in 2021? If so, that's all you need to know. Case closed. If BB hasn't been open about that, then we would get into the stuff about whether BB had a reasonable expectation of not being asked about her.
Here's my imagined reconstruction of events:
BB: I've got an interview with CBS about my book. Wanna be there?
Jordon: Of course. I don't want them to ask about me.
BB: I'll tell the publicist not to ask anything except about the book
Jordon: Thank you. I really, really don't want our laundry aired in public.
BB [calls publicist]: Could you please make sure CBS understands that I'm only going to talk about the book
Publicist: Sure, sure, no problem. [Hangs up] That's not the way it works. He knows that. I'll just Mattis this request here.
Agreed,And now people see why it actually does matter that he has a girlfriend that's almost 50 years younger than him.
It becomes a spectacle off the field and that can affect the program and results on the field.Agreed,
I feel kind of bad and guilty because I know I'm harping on it incessantly on this thread, and I know (and respect/understand) that not everyone shares my concern. But man, it's just leaving me with quite the feeling of unease.
Unfortunately, this idiotic episode has made some national news outlets. Of course modern media is all about "gotcha!" moments and the national sports media hasn't seemed to like UNC since the whole never-ending NCAA investigation, but no doubt there are some higher-ups at UNC who are concerned about how all this looks. Honestly, the sooner football season gets here the better. At least then the focus will be on what we're doing on the field, good or bad.Looks like it’s Bill’s word versus that of CBS. Hard to imagine that CBS would have concocted this whole saga out of nowhere and for no reason, but it’s water under the bridge at this point either way. It has been a bad look for Bill, a bad look for Hudson, and a bad look for UNC- and two of those three things need not happen again if we are paying him $10 million to represent our university, and the third *shouldn’t* happen but ultimately it’s something over which UNC does not have control.
Also, and I can speak with a particular bit of expertise on this very specific part, but the fact that the statement from Bill came from UNC’s University Comms office- not from the Football program, not from Bill himself, and not from the athletics department – is an indicator that it’s being addressed and dealt with at the very highest level of the university, most likely because there are some powerful and influential people at UNC who are not happy with what’s been going on.
Especially one who apparently now sees herself as his publicity/public relations manager. I wonder if that is the "professional" side of their relationship that Belichick was talking about. His private life is his business, but if they're going to keep doing interviews like this then the reality is that it's going to be everybody's business in this social media age. As I posted earlier, the sooner that the football season starts and people can focus on what's happening on the field, the better. And now people see why it actually does matter that he has a girlfriend that's almost 50 years younger than him.
