I was part of that 2011 UNC team that had an interim staff that was completely checked out in every way possible from the moment Butch was fired on July 27, 2011, and not only would that lameduck staff coach circles around this current one in their sleep, they also showed infinite more care for and investment in the players as people than this one ever will.

I am so incredibly disgusted by almost every facet of leadership at UNC right now that I want little or nothing to do with the entire University until the likes of Roberts and Preyer and Evans are gone. I’ve completely stopped my Rams Club giving- both annual fund and football program-specific- and quite literally the only thing keeping me still contributing to the Carolina Covenant is because that scholarship completely changed the entire trajectory of my life and I also don’t want to “punish” current and future generations of Covenant scholars by withholding support. But every time I get solicitations from any other part of the university- and especially Athletics- they’re going straight in the trash. UNC has completely lost its way as of right now. I’ll come back on board with broader giving to the university when they decide that maybe it’s not a good idea to be paying the football coach and his failsons and his GM and the GM’s failson tens of millions while simultaneously using money previously earmarked for the academic side coupled with slashing more than $70 million in academic program funding, preventing faculty and staff from getting raises, threatening to cut academic departments, etc. UNC clearly does not need me or my money so I’m happy to oblige.

Agreed, but my fear is that if things don't work out for Hubert this season and he is let go at the end of the year (and I pray that he is successful) then I don't see these clowns as being the type to back off and not try to interfere or dictate that coaching search too. These people are nearly always arrogant and immune to admitting to being wrong, and my guess is they'll try to run that coaching search as well, although the Belichick experience might lead them to try to do it more covertly and behind the scenes.

Oh yeah, goodness, can you imagine if those folks get a chance at a men’s basketball search at Carolina that does not involve Roy Williams? Lord have mercy

I'm sure if they do get involved (and they would) then it would be to hire some legendary but aging over-the-hill big name NBA or college coach who should be enjoying his retirement instead of trying to coach anything. They're going to completely drive UNC sports into bankruptcy and into the ground if they continue to hold great sway over the athletic program.

Yeah, I know it. I am too, but I think for people like Jason who have been around football and have coached football and know football so well, this whole disaster is beyond the pale.

I know I have been vocally critical of the hire ever since it happened last December, but there is nothing more that I would have wanted than to have been proven wrong and to have had to eat a whole bunch of crow. I like to think I know football pretty well, and even I know only a fraction of what people like Jason and so many of the other talking heads who have been commenting on the Belichick disaster. If this whole thing is repulsive to me, I can only imagine what people who have forgotten more about football than I’ll ever know think.

Call me foolish or whatever but I still have hope that the staff can figure it out and turn the program around. (I still have hope HD can do the same, but much less after seeing the same mistakes for four years.)
 
It was worse than I thought. I was secretly wishing Dabo would've scored 80 to begin the ending of this nightmare. I'm sick that NCSU and dook will destroy this team which is a bottom feeder in terms of talent and coaching.

The odds of HD turning it around are about 100x greater than BB. HD actually cares and wants to win. Belichick doesnt give a rat's ass.
