Those stories are distractions. They can be all lies and our program would still be a house on fire.
Just going from direct observation, statements from the university and reporting from IC:
- We have one of the worst teams in all of college football
- We are a national laughingstock (this matters because of recruiting specifically and prestige generally)
- We are paying extreme salaries to a staff that appears not just bad but negligent
- An assistant coach has been suspended for providing improper benefits
- The university has opened an investigation into "other potential actions detrimental to the team and University"
- Reports from IC were that we should expect staff changes
- The GM has changed the story of what the strategy of the team is towards a multi-year rebuild
- The AD gave the kiss-of-death vote of confidence
- We have one of the worst teams in all of college football
The veracity of a newspaper story about disgruntled parents is the least of our concerns.
