Oh, that fucking game. Didn't know it had that nickname. I mean, it lived up to its name, right? The Judgment was that "Thou University Of North Carolina Have Been Found Unworthy By The Football Gods And Shall Suck For Eternity." That game was literally the program's high water mark in the last 40 years, was it not?
It was called Judgment Day because there were two top 5 battles that day: UNC vs. FSU and Michigan vs. Penn State. Gameday even split up into multiple broadcast locations. Michigan won that day and went on to win the national championship. Judgment Day referred to how unusual it was to have two huge games on the same day.

this may make heel79s head explode

Heel79's official position is that the WRAL anchor stated numerous blatant lies in that interview. He's lying about having sources in UNC football. He's lying about having been at (and spoken to people at) the Clemson game or anywhere else. He's lying about speaking with "multiple levels of UNC decision makers" about anything. It's all just completely made up.

Live shot of @heel79 whenever WRAL or N&O reporter speaks:

Regarding the Welter interview, it's such an odd interview. He talks about vetting his info with people who've said the exact opposite of what he's saying. Then takes a victory lap on the DB coach getting suspended. Then almost cries at the end? I mean, I can see, given the witch hunt they went on a few years ago, why 79 has a beef with them.

The craziest thing was he is not sure if he is emailing/texting with the people he thinks he is. Like maybe Jordon is just pretending to be different staffers and sending emails on their accounts.

It's feels nice to think about watching some fball this weekend without having to worry about us, but looking at acc matchups I realized Cal has a bye. Doh.

And yet, he trusts them as sources. So cray cray. I could totally see her with 15-20 burner phones :ROFLMAO:

I don't know. Seems like if you've waged war against an entity you might not trust it in the future, even if it were to deserve it.
I don’t blame him at all for not trusting the N&O generally. What I do think is over the top is (1) him accusing the WRAL anchor of outright lying, and (2) refusing to acknowledge independent evidence from numerous other sources that things are terribly wrong in the UNC program.

All right, I was more talking about this as analogous to symptoms of PTSD. Like, even if he's wrong, he's understandably wrong.

Personally I haven't been following any of this except very generally, so I neither know nor care about who is saying what. I don't even know who most of these people are. So I have no idea at all.

Are you talking about me? I said Tuesday to be wary of reporting from WRAL anchor and laughed at the idea he found a disgruntled parent and a source close to the program. I have not watched the interview with Dan Patrick. There has been a lot of misinformation put out there. I have not said all lies or whatever. I don't know. But I do believe wral and Nando have an ax to grind. Tried once to get us, try again. Someone said BB embarrassed him during a press conference awhile back and speculated this was his get-even moment. Again, I dint know. But I don't trust them

Ok well in the Patrick interview he mentions his sources and how/when he spoke to them in detail. So you’re calling him a liar if you say he didn’t do that. Up to you whether that’s your position.

I’m not disputing WRAL potentially having an agenda. I’m saying whether or not WRAL has an agenda is completely irrelevant to an objective assessment that are program is currently a toxic waste dump.

Those stories are distractions. They can be all lies and our program would still be a house on fire.

Just going from direct observation, statements from the university and reporting from IC:
  • We have one of the worst teams in all of college football
  • We are a national laughingstock (this matters because of recruiting specifically and prestige generally)
  • We are paying extreme salaries to a staff that appears not just bad but negligent
  • An assistant coach has been suspended for providing improper benefits
  • The university has opened an investigation into "other potential actions detrimental to the team and University"
  • Reports from IC were that we should expect staff changes
  • The GM has changed the story of what the strategy of the team is towards a multi-year rebuild
  • The AD gave the kiss-of-death vote of confidence
  • We have one of the worst teams in all of college football
The veracity of a newspaper story about disgruntled parents is the least of our concerns.

What I said was be wary of a WRAL anchor doing real reporting. Maybe they cut him loose. To leave studio and dig. I said this is likely insiders calling him. I stand by that. If he went out and got more sources way to go. There is, again, a lot of poor reporting, now at national level based on local reporting.

On the radio it was mentioned that The Athletic’s UNC/Duke reporter Brendan Marks knocked on the door of Belichick’s house in Nantucket.

I don’t think I’d advise a beat reporter to do that.

I went over to the IC free Tar Pit board to see what they've been saying, and besides the obvious fact that it's pretty dead over there I did notice that randman is back. Now there was a blast from the past, lol. He's in favor of giving Bill more time to get things right, for whatever that's worth.

BB vacationing again during bye week. This time in Kannapolis. Apparently decided to take in HS game with multiple targets.

And if we're going to fire him, these need to be the only reasons the Administration uses for justification. Reasons involving angry parents and Mack's players' feelings are going to turn off any coach who wants to install a hard-nosed culture. We've been soft since Butch left. Reason's involving girlfriends or the team's twitter page or rudeness of the GM make us look unserious, like a fanbase worrying more about uniforms and hedges than toughness.

Great post. Mack was criticized for cuddling players, BB too old school. That and seeing our fans sharing stories from WRAL and Nando I find interesting. I hope we find the truth. Glad UNC is investigating.
