Those stories come from media outlets that people see. I don’t think this is a surprise to anyone, but most people don’t get their sports news from the print newspaper or the AM radio station anymore. Those are always the best places for
legitimate sports news
If there were any rumors, they were planted by BB and his crew. There was never any interest. So the correct response to rumors that your head coach is leaving is to ignore them? I have zero problem with publicly squashing BS rumors.
I watched football all day yesterday and BB and giants were mentioned multiple times. If you follow recruiting you know that BB is almost always mentioned when we land recruits, which is has happening a lot. It matters not at all if BB is a legitimate candidate or not what matters is the perception. Because of the statement kids across this country who might would pick us have been reassured. If in fact he is not legitimate candidate the PR move is even better. Funny thing is all those mocking this knows it was a smart move and helps with recruiting, portal, with fans etc.Don’t go ruining people’s selective outrage with facts now. UNC should just let the media say whatever it wants to without ever trying to squash rumors or address misinformation.
Or they were out out there by media personalities looking for a story at UNC’s expense. Either way, there should be zero issue with UNC squashing those rumors. Being upset at that is an odd look.If there were any rumors, they were planted by BB and his crew. There was never any interest.
Those talking heads have a lot of airtime to kill. Sometimes it helps just to make things up.Or they were out out there by media personalities looking for a story at UNC’s expense. Either way, there should be zero issue with UNC squashing those rumors. Being upset at that is an odd look.
Imagine also if BB had not put out statement. Story would be airing on repeat and the BB haters would be complaining about his silence. Those talking heads have a lot of airtime to kill. Sometimes it helps just to make things up.
“He’s not even committed to the program! He can’t even find the time to deny these rumors about him leaving!”Imagine also if BB had not put out statement. Story would be airing on repeat and the BB haters would be complaining about his silence.
I get your stance, but surely you would say that unknown in who's going to be the coaches when you arrive on campus would be a negative when you're deciding where to go to school, right?Lolololol at least yall aren’t even attempting to gaslight us anymore about there being some magical “improvement” of the team after that humiliating loss yesterday. I’d say that’s progress! I think Wake Forest just blocked another FG as I typed this.
Sorry that most of us found it amusing that our head coach put out a Friday night 10 PM Instagram statement about his lack of interest in an NFL job when not one single solitary in a NFL team has had any interest in touching him with a 50 foot pole for the last three years anyway. Brilliant PR move by Bill and UNC. Thank goodness they were able to quash those rumors by Stephen A Smith and USA Today!
I just don’t see why people are upset about UNC squashing a rumor that was making its way across the media and that had no merit to it. It seems as if some people just want to yell at BB for existing.Lolololol at least yall aren’t even attempting to gaslight us anymore about there being some magical “improvement” of the team after that humiliating loss yesterday. All I’m saying is that it’s funny that one poster in particular blew a gasket because a few of us got amusement out of the fact that our head coach put out a statement on Instagram about not being interested in any NFL jobs when there were no NFL jobs interested in him. It was just amusing, that’s all. In all candor, I care infinitely less about Belichick putting out that statement than I do about how awful his football program currently is from top to bottom.I get your stance, but surely you would say that unknown in who's going to be the coaches when you arrive on campus would be a negative when you're deciding where to go to school, right?
Also, surely you'd say that the team, while still not good, has improved since the beginning of the year, right?
You can speak for yourself, but dont speak for me. Im mocking it and I know no such thing. If I was a high school recruit, I would be laughing my ass off at that old man claiming he isnt interested in the Giants when we all know that the Giants want nothing to do with him.I watched football all day yesterday and BB and giants were mentioned multiple times. No...we would be praying to sweet baby Jesus that someone would be dumb enough to hire him.Imagine also if BB had not put out statement. Story would be airing on repeat and the BB haters would be complaining about his silence.
In all candor, I truly was only amused by it- not mad or anything like that. It seemed a little tacky to me but overall I guess I generally understand why he and the program could have deemed it necessary to issue a statement. But it is so far down the list of things about which I don’t like about our current staff has to be virtually nonexistent.I just don’t see why people are upset about UNC squashing a rumor that was making its way across the media and that had no merit to it. It seems as if some people just want to yell at BB for existing.
Oh, I totally agree with you, in the grand scheme of things, this statement is WAY down on the list. I do think you are over-evaluating the talent on this roster, there's very little. I'd be willing to wager that Wake has more, especially in the key positions. All I’m saying is that it’s funny that one poster in particular blew a gasket because a few of us got amusement out of the fact that our head coach put out a statement on Instagram about not being interested in any NFL jobs when there were no NFL jobs interested in him. And no, I do not think we have improved appreciably since the first game. We beat horrible Syracuse and Stanford teams, and our offense looked like trash in one full half of each of those games. Then we played arguably our worst game of the season yesterday against Wake Forest. We got completely bullied on both sides of the ball, the entire game. We were never in any remote danger of winning that game, not for one second. Wake had their best offensive game of the season other than playing Western Carolina. We were completely non-competitive against a first year coach who was hired *after* ours was hired and who has a roster full of players which 99% of would never sniff a UNC scholarship offer. The reason I say it was our worst game of the season, even more so than the TCU or Clemson games, is because at least TCU and Clemson have better rosters than we do and their coaching staffs have more longevity and history of winning at the highest level of college football- while the fact that we were completely blown off the field by both was disconcerting, it was at least more understandable than being completely uncompetitive against Wake frigging Forest.
Have a few individual players perhaps improved markedly over the course of the season? Sure. Has the team as a whole? I find that really difficult to say after seeing what we saw yesterday. Has the coaching, game planning, scheming, game management, and play calling improved since the first game? Absolutely not, in my opinion.
