Hopefully we get there by NCAA tourney time but I'm glad that Kansas looks unstoppable and that's a good thing because it may take them to stop dook in the tourney.

Given how feeble our bigs are (weak hands, no explosive ups, soft bodies) how did Hubert not secure a single big in the portal? How? It's not as if are returning guys scared anybody around playing time. Are we that far behind in NIL resources, or can Hubert just not close?

I have been wondering the same thing.

I don't know how they can really adjust for that, though. Maybe playing zone would help on defense. But not sure how they can adjust for it on offense. Not sure why Hubert couldn't get a quality big man.
NIL

It's going to be a huge problem going forward.

NIL clearly has something to do with it. There’s also a dearth of quality big men in general. As polarizing as Bacot was, he was at the very least a stabilizing presence in the paint for a long time. Think we forgot what it’s like to not have an imposing big man.

KU is friggin incredible. Wow
It’s one half of one game (and I’ve been murdering some apple brandy old fashioneds and mezcal negronis) so I reserve the right to modify this statement, but their balance and depth is the best I’ve seen in a very long time. They have size, quickness, athleticism, and shooting in spades. I’d consider putting some money on an undefeated run for them.

A few years ago Baylor won the national title with a team of mostly guards, but overall they have may have been more athletic than this UNC team, and maybe their guards were taller than ours (isn't RJ only like six feet, zero inches tall?)
That team was incredible on defense. They forced a lot of turnovers and got a lot of transition baskets. The Heels have the offense for that, but they don't seem to have the defense for it. They need to get turnovers because they don't have anyone that can stop a big inside, and they don't have a big to go to inside on offense, so the defense can play up on the guards and not worry about helping inside.

Kansas has Everything

Definitely don't think, nor did I going in, that UNC will win. I just hope to see the Freshmen play better and better, the team to fight and not give up, and hopefully come away better for going into Allen Fieldhouse this early in the year.
