I wanted Hubert to be the guy. He was one of my favorite players when I was growing up and he’s a Heel. With that said, I thought it was an incredibly lazy hire. Roy had a few years that were not up to par. I’m not sure I would have just listened to his recommendation and go immediately with it.

The “modernization” of UNC basketball hasn’t worked. That’s what Hubert was supposed to bring. What I see is selfish, iso ball. It’s actually not really selfish as that seems to be the strategy. The offense is set a high ball screen and see if the guard can break the defense down and kick it to shooters. If that’s we’l-guarded, forget it. The offense is ugly as hell.

This years roster is fundamentally flawed and it would be easy to say - Hubert didn’t get a center but everyone miss sometimes. It’s not really that easy. He watched Jalen Washington in practice for two years and somehow came to the conclusion that he might be the answer. NIL dollars were redirected from post needs to Tyson, who is totally unneeded.

Hubert had a pretty bad first year that ended magically. He had one of the worst seasons in Carolina history the second year. He grabbed a 1 seed but lost in the sweet sixteen in year 3 and this team is a total mess. Usually you know by year 3. I don’t think Hubert is going to be the coach here long term. I think we all know it but it’s just hard to say it. When you do realize it though, it’s always better to go ahead and make the move.

Carolina basketball (even when not amazing) has always been fun to watch. Under Davis, we aren’t. That’s worst than being bad especially in 2024.

That was a bad look.

He wasn’t technically fired. UK sold their soul to Shady.
I know. That's why I used "pushed out." Not defending it at all. It's just what popped into my head thinking of good coaches that didn't last at a particular school.

Yeah, there just haven’t been many coaches with a 70% win % and a clean record who have gotten the boot.

Beat UCLA and Campbell, and 14-6 in the ACC with the right wins/losses might get them in

Road games: Louisville, Notre Dame, NC State, Wake, Pitt, Duke, Clemson, Syracuse, Florida St, Va Tech

Home games: SMU, Cal, Stanford, BC, Pitt, NC State, Virginia, Miami, Duke

So last season was one good whole season out of four before they went home early in the tournament.
They made the national championship game in year 1 so 2 out 3 so far.

I said a good whole season. That season wasn't good until they beat dook at Cameron and had the tourney run and beat dook in the Final Four. They wouldn't have made the tournament if they hadn't beat dook at Cameron. It was a good run at the end of the season, but the rest of the season until then was bad. The next year was terrible. Last year was a good season. This year doesn't look good so far.

But props to you for staying positive and having the biggest Carolina blue glasses of anyone here.

Speaking truth.

IC's falling apart. If it were up to them HD would be on the bus with the FLA team.

In fairness, given the way the season is going, short of another miracle like in his first year, this team is not going dancing. It would be the second time HD has had a team highly ranked that flamed out to not make the tourney. It's pretty fucking worrisome, relatively speaking.

There’s no pay off in constantly being negative.
