I wish when Trimble came back Hubert would start Cadeau, RJ, Jackson, Trimble and either Lubin or Washington. Rotate in Powell and either Lubin or Washington, and that be it. Withers and Tyson just do more harm than good and should only be played if someone is in foul trouble. I also wish he would stop the switching on man or even just play a zone. Cadeau and RJ are too small to guard anyone, and Washington isn't big enough to guard a decent big.

Withers was better than Lubin today

Zone defense doesn't work. It works even less when you're a tiny team

You’re whining. It’s not a great look.
I'm usually on your side 95% of the time in sports conversations, but not sure I'm on board here. The poster was simply expressing a thought. He wasn't going off on some rant or spamming negative threads or anything that might deserve that response on IC.

And who cares if it's a great look or not? Great look to whom?

I was stunned when EC hit that shot, plus the foul. Super happy for him. He seems like someone who struggles with confidences, so glad he hit that.

I thought the first half D was solid. Glad to see that, especially missing one of our top two defenders in Trimble. Really hope he gets back soon.

Happy for the team. Happy for the coaches. Happy for the fans who are able to enjoy conference win on the road.

Bad timing, imo.

Heels just pulled of a crazy 4 point play win on the road in the midst of a difficult season.

Expressing apathy right after the game is negative in my eyes.

I’m not worried about who agrees or disagree.

I’m simply sharing my thoughts.

Nice thing about this season is that there are enough pieces to go on a run. They’d all need to line up the right way in February and March, but the pieces are there. It is a bit like 2023 team, when the pieces went the wrong direction. Hoping for more like a 2022 run down the stretch. Both outcomes seem well within the range of possible outcomes.

This thread would just be a total train wreck if it weren’t for the all-knowing Bigs serving as the moral compass to tell the rest of us simpletons how we’re allowed to discuss or criticize the team.
You’re obviously free to post what you want, as am I. However pushing back on constant negativity shouldn’t be considered any worse than wallowing in it.

I agree but the team needs to play defense and fight for rebounds (like the first half). Ian is emerging as a superstar who can carry this team as the season progresses. We just need to start stacking wins during this early (easier) ACC schedule.

"Cadeau and RJ are too small to guard anyone..." Agree.
I was thinking 4 guard 1 forward line up too - but I think we give up points and rebounds too much already. Scoring has not really been an issue. Our issues have been: turnovers by Cadeau (not many today though); poor defense; not much rebounding and - lately - no Trimble.

If: 1) Cadeau is going to continue with 40 turnovers every 12 games (like he did the first 12), and 2) RJ isn't hitting, but can give assists (like he did today) and give us better defense and rebounding at the point than Cadeau and 3) Trimble comes back healthy and playing like he was and 4) Jackson continues to be the scoring monster he's become... Then I say start RJ at point; Ian and Trimble at 2 & 3. I think that may cut down on turnovers and give us better defense and keep the assists and scoring where it's been. I also think Drake and JWash have settled it as starters at 4 & 5. We have to have SOME height and defense in the paint. And agree that Lubin should get the minutes that Withers and Tyson would get.

I'm not saying Cadeau doesn't get his 25 minutes pg - or that he may not finish games or be in there for offense in crunch time. But when we need stops and to protect the ball - sit him and play RJ/Ian/Seth.

Notre Dame got 12 offensive rebounds (vs. giving up 20 defensive rebounds).

We got 5 offensive rebounds (vs. giving up 19 defensive rebounds).

That is the sole reason Notre Dame was in the game. If we could even up those percentages, say limit Notre Dame to 7 offensive rebounds, we probably win this game comfortably.

Of course, every game so far is a different issue. Sometimes its TOs, sometimes its fouls, sometimes its rebounds, sometimes its defense, sometimes its lack of concentration and playing hard. They will need to be much more consistent, for both halves of basketball, if they hope to have a chance down the stretch.
