UNC ONLY BASKETBALL 2024-25 SEASON

The whole reason that UNC was ranked to start the season was that we had a first time all-American returning.

That first team all-American is currently shooting under 40% from the field. Today he has 6 points, 0 rebounds, 0 steals, 0 blocks. He does have 7 assists, which is something, but we need much much more. There's no excuse for him to not have a single rebound or steal.
 
Remember the excitement when our entire starting lineup made well crafted 'I'm back' videos after beating dook in the final 4? That was the high water mark of excitement as a fan. The actual tournament run felt too much like a dream to feel real.

I'd say that high water mark was halftime of the NC game with a 15 point lead, but that obviously lasted a much shorter time than the preseason hype going into the next year.

But otherwise I agree with you that much of the Hubert years have been excitement over possibilities undercut by significant underperformance in reality.

For not getting called for a foul you mean.

Can’t believe that was the defense we called during the time out. With all the bad luck this team has had, only fair to get a gift like that.

Trimble would have made a huge difference guarding Burton in this game.
 
Maybe I shouldn’t complain about anything after a win, but what was up with us calling a timeout after Cadeau hit his free throw on the 4-point play? Wasn’t there just a timeout before the shot? Why didn’t we discuss at that point what we needed to do after he hit the shot. Why burn a timeout? I understand that with 4.8 seconds left and Notre Dame having possession, the likelihood of having to use a timeout was extremely slim, but what if Notre Dame scored quickly and we still had time left? We may want to use a timeout there. Or what if we forced a turnover and had to inbound the ball? We may want to have a timeout left in case we had trouble inbounding the ball (which we have had issues with this season).
 
Except for Burton, that was NOT a good team that we beat by only one point. Burton is listed at 6 feet but looks smaller to me. I sense UNC misses Trimble more than we know. The D is absolutely lackadaisical at times.

Hazzah to Captain Jack! He had a bit of a letdown in the second half but the guy's a fearless scorer.

Davis' game was better (even without scoring), Cadeau was lucky, and we got a must-win. So, what do we expect from SMU on Tuesday night?
 
Can't believe they won and the way they won. It was looking like another collapse again to an average team because of bad defense, a stagnant offense that relies on too much 1 on 1 play, and poor coaching. Good thing Jackson is a talented scorer because that's the only thing that gave Carolina a chance.
 
I wish when Trimble came back Hubert would start Cadeau, RJ, Jackson, Trimble and either Lubin or Washington. Rotate in Powell and either Lubin or Washington, and that be it. Withers and Tyson just do more harm than good and should only be played if someone is in foul trouble. I also wish he would stop the switching on man or even just play a zone. Cadeau and RJ are too small to guard anyone, and Washington isn't big enough to guard a decent big.

Notre Dame with Burton will likely finish in the upper half of the ACC (which isn't saying very much). They had a pretty tough schedule with Burton out the last 7 games (although they did lose to Elon with Burton). Always tough to win on the road in the ACC -- especially with a team that is lacking confidence.
 
Held a team 3 pts under their season average....

J Wash with 5 blocks and some finishes. Needs to hold on to the ball

Noticed EC was smiling a few times. That's a start.... and finish should give some confidence. 10p/6a/1to

Is RJ having a hand issue or what? The shot is just not there. Shots that were automatic last year. Also doesn't seem to be as aggressive driving
