"Cadeau and RJ are too small to guard anyone..." Agree.
I was thinking 4 guard 1 forward line up too - but I think we give up points and rebounds too much already. Scoring has not really been an issue. Our issues have been: turnovers by Cadeau (not many today though); poor defense; not much rebounding and - lately - no Trimble.

If: 1) Cadeau is going to continue with 40 turnovers every 12 games (like he did the first 12), and 2) RJ isn't hitting, but can give assists (like he did today) and give us better defense and rebounding at the point than Cadeau and 3) Trimble comes back healthy and playing like he was and 4) Jackson continues to be the scoring monster he's become... Then I say start RJ at point; Ian and Trimble at 2 & 3. I think that may cut down on turnovers and give us better defense and keep the assists and scoring where it's been. I also think Drake and JWash have settled it as starters at 4 & 5. We have to have SOME height and defense in the paint. And agree that Lubin should get the minutes that Withers and Tyson would get.

I'm not saying Cadeau doesn't get his 25 minutes pg - or that he may not finish games or be in there for offense in crunch time. But when we need stops and to protect the ball - sit him and play RJ/Ian/Seth.
100% agree on the starting lineup. We’ll be bigger and better defensively if Ian continues to improve on that end
EC is a good player, and should get a lot of minutes, but the backcourt with RJ is just too dang small.

Nice thing about this season is that there are enough pieces to go on a run. They’d all need to line up the right way in February and March, but the pieces are there. It is a bit like 2023 team, when the pieces went the wrong direction. Hoping for more like a 2022 run down the stretch. Both outcomes seem well within the range of possible outcomes.
In order to make a run we need to make the NCAAT first.

I disagree.

Positivity > Negativity

You’re behaving as if you’ve been personally aggrieved. You haven’t.

You’re better than this.
Unwarranted positivity is much, much worse than reality-based negativity.

But what is worse than either is when one poster or group of posters decide they should police the feelings and posts of others. And that's where you go from being just another poster with an opinion to a fucking nuisance.

I haven't been personally aggrieved by Carolina Basketball, but no one has appointed you the Protector of Good Feelings for the program, either.

I would say you're better than appointing yourself to that role, but I have years of proof from your posts to know that you're not.

2 Duke
23 Pitt
32 Clemson
36 UNC
43 Louisville
51 SMU
69 Florida St
88 Wake
89 Notre Dame
94 NCST
96 Stanford
100 Ga Tech

ND not good but not total bottom feeders this season

With Burton in the lineup a legitimate challenge for most teams in the ACC

Yeah, I thought RJ did well today running the point when Cadeau was out

I’ll continue to be an optimist and you can continue to be miserable. I’m guessing we’ll both be happy with our approach.

I’m sure I find your negative Nancy approach as annoying as you find my Pollyanna one.

But so what? Don’t try to police me at the same time your bitching about being policed.

I think the answer is to cut RJ's AND Elliot's minutes some, so that the two are playing as few mins together as possible. Maybe that's 25 for Elliot and 30 for RJ but neither is playing close to well enough to command 35+

With that said, I'd be surprised if EC continues to turn it over anywhere close to the rate he has to start the season and if RJ continues to shoot it as poorly (not expecting a revert to last season - but less volume at a higher clip)

Unless you plan to play the 4 guard line up a lot, need someone other than Drake at the 4, which has to be Withers or Tyson. Lubin isn't a 4 and needs to split time at the 5 with Jwash

At this point we all know this team is not a big threat for anything-Conference title, high seed, big run in the NCAA. But I am going to watch and hope we surprise folks a couple of times. The long term implications on the program......we shall see

I’m still holding out hope for an NCAA bid.

The future of the program rests mostly in the hands of those who write the checks.

Regardless, UNC basketball as we knew it is a thing of the past.

That's all of college sports, fwiw. Otoh, I'm not convinced that this is a lot worse than the shamateurism after WWII or the point shaving scandals of the 50s and 60s. At least this more open and potentially easier to adjust. Once the amount of money became so large, there was no excuse for the players to just get crumbs from the cake. I doubt all the inequities will ever be completely dealt with. Money and prestige will always have influence. I do expect that there will be an adjustment in how NIL is handled so there isn't such a great dichotomy between schools. Maybe colleges need a salary cap.

Definitely need a salary cap - coaches included. But NIL and sneaker deals will always cloud the waters.

Also need 2 year contracts and go back to sit one year for transferring unless extenuating circumstances intervene - just like the rules stipulated before the portal.
