There are no algorithms, but it is most definitely social media. Just like Reddit.
I agree, but the way to explain people saying that they gave up social media in a post on a message board is this understanding.

I guess we can say there are levels of social media, or something like that.

Right. No one is referring to anonymous online message boards when colloquially using the term social media. Forums like this probably fall under a subcategory of social media, but I think we can all agree that there are fundamental differences between zzlpolitics.com and mainstream social media platforms like TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram, etc.

Agreed. I do have a Facebook page that I use to communicate with friends, family, etc. that are scattered all over the place and that I would never get to see or chat with most of the time, but that's about the extent of my social media activity. I never post on Twitter or Instagram or TikTok or similar sites, although I've certainly seen them posted here and elsewhere, and I do post political or other tweets here sometimes that I come across and find to be pertinent to a thread or argument being made here.

But I don't really consider this board or similar ones to be real social media, although I'm sure, as you said, that they technically fall under some subcategory of it.

i wouldn't quite put snapchat in the same category as those others, either. i use it for messaging / video messaging and am not force fed content based on an algorithm like on tiktok, instagram, facebook, twitter/x/whatever, etc.

there is content that seems to be somewhat tailored to me available on snapchat but i have to choose to see it, its not just in my feed or whatever.

FAA has banned drones over NJ.

Mick West has developed a great YT channel that deals with all the UFO, UAP, and now drone hysteria. I highly recommend his channel and encourage watching some of his evidenced-based videos (even if you have no personal questions or concerns about this particular kind of 21st century American hysteria and almost entirely right wing idiocy).

"Drones are male bees and their sole purpose is to mate with the queen: they don't work, don't make honey and can't sting. Since a queen only needs to mate once, most of the drones won't even get the chance to fulfil their role. But worker bees keep them around, just in case a new queen needs mating.

Drones usually live for about eight weeks and, in that time, have all their needs met by worker bees. In the fall, the worker bees kick the drones out of the hive because keeping them through the winter demands too much work and food.

You can recognize drones because they are stouter and a little bit longer than worker bees. Their eyes are twice the size of worker bees' eyes because a drone needs good eyesight when he follows the queen high up in the air to mate."
Just saying.....
