I'm a Gen-Xer and am registered independent for this reason. I definitely fall on the left side of the conservative spectrum and proudly voted Dem this election but asked for a Rep primary ballot to try and improve the odds on the governor race. It was a calculated risk, but it seems to have paid off. I think Folwell would have been a tight race.
